Got rear ended today...

Just go get checked out - you usually don't start feeling pain from auto accidents until days later.
Sorry to hear this. Really dangerous out there, everyone be careful and aware at all time.

I'm glad you weren't injured and hope they do total the car...
not to be a vulture but if you feel like hooking someone up with those full cow door panels - let me know and how much.

First and foremost, give thanks for walking away from this needless accident.
I hope the rollover bars didn't blow out the back window, because that would make no sense. Why get showered in glass for a rear end collision. What would have happened if an infant were strapped into a rear facing child seat? Millions of glass splinters in their eyes?? A strange safety feature.
As others have stated, aren't they only supposed to deploy in the event of an imminent rollover?
Hope you get fully reimbursed for your loss.

It's clear to me that the rollover bars penetrated the rear glass. Crystal clear.

Also automobile glass is tempered so it does not shatter in those tiny splinter pieces you are thinking of.
OP glad you are OK. Any more pics of the rear end? I am curious. Keep us posted on the results of the insurance estimate.

They did puncture the glass
Still a bit in shock from it all but impact on rear lifted car rear tyres/tires off the ground and I am guessing that is when they popped, probably sensing a roll-over?
And the glass shards in front seats/footwell are from the rear window :-(

I will keep you posted with the insurance estimates
Fingers crossed total loss - if not I def want diminished value - anyone know what happens to the sales tax in a total loss example? Would they give me the replacement plus tax equivalent?

Glad you are ok. Sorry about the damage. That sucks. On the roll over bar deployment - due to the force of the impact the vehicle may have been lifted off the ground if only for a second causing deployment. My guess is that the system is set up on the sensitive side.
