I don't like how it shifts for me. I get to the corner at 20mph and it already has me in 6th gear. No thanks. I treat it like it's a manual transmission and shift when I used to shift with my '06 997. The only time I put it in "D" is when I'm taking a long trip. It gets great MPG on long trips. I drove from NJ to DC last weekend and got over 28mpg.

Same as previous posters. I drive it like I would a manual except I don’t have to worry about the clutch or misshifts. When driving off, the switch from P to M is in my muscle memory by now.
This lets me stay in a desired gear and I don’t have to wait for it to downshift when I want to accelerate. Also lets me play with the engine sound.
I’m using the lever to shift most of the time. Makes me sad that they’re taking that away in 992.
I use paddles for spirited driving on back roads when I want to keep my hands on the wheel all the time.
The only time I use D is on long cruising trips couple times a year. Yes I use manual mode even in traffic on my daily commute.
I also used auto (and Sport Plus) on a track because I wanted to focus on the line.

About pulling both paddles to put it in neutral. I found that when I do this while the car is still moving, after pulling one of the paddles the PDK goes back into the correct gear. But when you come to a complete stop after you pulled both paddles and it’s in neutral, there seems no way to get it back in gear by using the paddles again. Only solution seems to be to put the PDK lever back into automatic and select drive again, and then put it back in manual. Does anyone have the same experience?

Stopping on the brake sure works. Honestly, I hate that it would not allow me to go from neutral to 1st from a stop by just pulling on the paddle. Those nannies and safety features are IMO an overkill.
in a MT 3-pedal car I can engage the1st or any gear w/o stopping on my brake pedal, can't I? It was safe back then...why not anymore?

For me it is manual only all the time. And I don't use the paddles. I don't care much about them actually. For all I care P can take them off. Or not, as I know many here enjoy using them.
Anyways, in manual mode only. In the city I use engine and suspension in normal mode.

No issues here driving in auto...in sport mode. Shifts great driving around on the street in sport mode.
i drove my 2012 GTS in manual mode about half the time. My 2009 was in manual mode almost all the time.

It doesn't.
Fastest to slowest warm up:
1. Any manual mode with shifting in the 2k-3k range
2. Sport Auto
3. Auto

I started to retest this in my 991.2 and after 2 weeks realized it was going to be the same answer and stopped.

I do not have PDK but this discussion makes me wonder. If you drive aggressively in automatic mode all the time, will it learn and change the shift points more to your liking?

I haven't yet found an automatic transmission that shifts the way I would have shifted manually.
