Default Pricing advice on a 2014 C4S

Although I am looking for a C2S, I have found a 2014 C4S CPO with around 17k miles that suits most (not all, does not have sport wheel, Bose, does have power steering plus) my search criteria, and would like to get some help regarding the price.

The options include:
176 - Sport Exhaust System
250 - Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK)
427 - 20" Carrera Classic Wheels
603 - Porsche Dynamic Light System (PDLS)
640 - Sport Chrono Package
- Leather interior
P06 - Power Sport Seats (14-way) with Memory Package
P3E - Premium Package Plus i.c.w. Power Sport Seats (14-way)

The original MSRP was in the 130k range. They are asking 90k and I guess the fair price would be around 85? They are ready to take a trade in at market value.

What would be the savings if they took out the CPO? What would you offer them?

Thanks for the advice.

I just picked up a 2014 C4S this Saturday with similar specs but only 10K miles. It also came CPO.

I paid $89k which I probably could have tried to wait it out for a lower price, but it had the color and wheels I really wanted. They also gave me more than I expected on my trade-in, so it kinda balanced out.

$85k seems fair, but I don't think they can "remove" the CPO for a discount because they have already paid for the certification.

And I am picking up my 2013 4S cab Friday @$86.5 w/ 5600 miles. Mine did not have PSE, but I am working on that! manitou202, I'll be in your neck of the woods to do the incline soon!

@teambell

Is this your first time doing the incline? It's quite the climb to say the least. I usually do it 5-10 times per year, but it's become pretty crowded lately. Have a good time!

Default 1st offer

I ended up offering 83k, apparently that is not going to do the trick and they have not moved their position yet... their loss.

The $130K range is pretty broad. $9,999.00 spread. Is it $131K or $139K????

The CPO may be able to be dropped. Depends if they already spent $$ on service and replacing tires, etc to get it up to speed. It's NOT worth trying to save $2-3K by dropping a CPO. It's the best insurance money can buy. That's one major service if something fails.

Realistically, if they're asking $90K, maybe you can get them down to $87K. If you've been looking a while and have had a hard time finding that near perfect dream car, it's not worth losing something over a couple grand.

If you offer too low, many guys won't even counter.

Their loss or yours? You can look at it both ways. An empty garage is worse than an extra car on a lot with dozens of others.

Default Whose loss

I guess it is actually nobody's loss, at least yet. I still have my money in the bank and there are a lot of attractive options ahead, and they have their car and may be able to do better with other customer that is willing to pay more for their "dream car". At most, the salesman and myself have lost 15' interacting via email and I have gained some experience for future deals.

In my view, and I reckon I am too new here, so I am probably wrong, the prices for the 2013 and 2014 cars are a bit "inflated" now, and should be significantly reduced over the next 6 months (and I am of course not referring to them having 6 months and some miles more, but to the effect of the new model coming to the dealers).

If I am wrong, I basically only loose 6 months of ownership... I can live with that risk more gladly that with the risk or paying 10k more now than I would pay then for the same car.

Thanks anyway, and best regards

These cars aren't going to drop $10K in 6 months. Trust me.

Plenty of used 991's out there in the low 80's and upper 70's. Look around.

You're looking at a CPO at over $40K off MSRP with 17K miles. Pretty competitive by today's standards. Look at the same car 1+ yrs from now, yes will be cheaper. Depreciation increase with time. Not a surprise. At some point slows down a lot and bottoms out. When in 15+ yrs you can see appreciation on good examples.

My way to look at it is, I could probably a 2015 left over with the same configuration for 106k. I am only getting 17k discount for a 2014 with 17k miles on it. I would rather be the first owner, better initial experience and resale value.

Or, I could configure a base 991.2 exactly the way I want it for 109, only 20k more. Compelling.

So, no matter how I look at it, 89k don't make sense for me.

A leftover 2015, with your specs, will be a challenge. My .02

Maybe. But this is not exactly my perfect configuration, remember I am paying for various things I wouldn't really choose:
  • AWD
  • PDLS
  • 14 way seats
  • Leather interior

My ideal build out would be around 120k, and in that case a 2015 left over should be around 100k.

And I have seen a car with a "creative" blue interior that doesn't really displease me with more or less anything I would like, not CPO, for less than 80k...
