Default 2nd round

I decided to put in a more "generous" offer with the aim of ending aprox in the middle (the offer was 86 minus my trade-in valued aprox +1k above market, basically 85 with my trade in at market, the aim being to end at 86+trade in at market). Pretty fair, if you ask me.

The guy tells me that he cant loose money on the deal and goes down $500!!! on his initial offer (i.e. 88.500 with my trade in valued at market).

Bye bye

Or, I could configure a base 991.2 exactly the way I want it for 109, only 20k more. Compelling.

So, no matter how I look at it, 89k don't make sense for me.

Best
What kind of deal are you expecting on a new 991.2?

around mid 80's is a solid price for a 14 C4S, especially if its CPO. its the last of the N/As too.
the only thing that'll beat that is a '15 or '16, Targa GTS or Targa 4S
i'm still on the fence about the 991.2. the rear styling takes getting used too.

Typical SA's BS. I doubt if he even knows what the dealership paid for the car. The fact that neither he nor you knows what they have invested in the car makes negotiating a little more dicey. That's why it's easier to negotiate on a new car where the invoice prices are in the public domain.
You guys are about 3% apart. If the car is not worth the extra 3% to you, then you walk away. On the other hand if you really like the car, I'd suggest increasing your offer by $1K to $86K and tell him that's your best and final offer, and to only contact you if he accepts, since you don't have any intention of going any higher.
Good luck.

Default 991.2

I'm going to let it go and find a more "perfect" build out that I am willing to go the extra mile for.

Atlanta, I don't know what kind of deal I could expect for a 991.2 at this point, but in 6 months or so I should think that 3% discount and my trade I at market should be attainable?

Thanks to all for the advice, I think this is a learning process for me and it will end up producing the desired outcome in time, I am not in a hurry...

Update: they have accepted my offer. I should be heading to the dealership on Saturday and if all is as expected it might end up happening...

Any particular things that I need to check or ask for?

Thanks in advance

Congrats. Definitely do your homework. PPI by an independent shop, check the paint thickness and panel alignment, review all service records, etc.

Just read through this post and was going to say that I thought $83k was more in the ballpark of an actual sale price than what a lot of these dealers are asking. It's not easy to move $90k used cars that are a dime a dozen like a C2S or C4S.

I offered $74k on this car when it was listed at $85k and they told me $83k was their bottom line and they would lose money below that, now it's listed at $79.5k and has been sitting at that price for about two months. Supposedly they originally listed it for $97k:

Yeah they're always b.s.ing about where they'll lose money.

My dad bought a 14 Panamera S CPO with $116k sticker for $62k. They originally had it listed at $79.9k without CPO. There's huge, massive markup in a lot of these deals...just have to play the waiting game.

I should probably wait 6 months, I think when the ".2s" become more common in the dealerships and people stop caring about the first units, the sound, etc., ".1s" will be harder to sell at this prices.

But then, I like it, they came down 5k from their initial offer and I find this deal "fair enough" provided the car is perfect, as I expect it to be. I'll see / test it on Saturday... and decide then.

Could I have saved a couple of extra grand for this one? Possibly. Would that make a difference? Not really.

Best

Almost there... is there anything that I should ask for?

Apparently the car has been fully serviced 2 months ago, including brake fluid and 4 new tires.

Any perks or gifts that usually can be got?
