It is way worse in person. It's only on first start up, after it has been started it doesn't do it again. It does sound GREAT otherwise. I don't like starting it up if anyone else is around, THAT is how bad it is. For as great as the car is, the first start up with that pinging makes and should make any Porsche enthusiast cringe. It's like nails on a chalkboard to me.

Friend has same exhaust and it does not make the same start up NOISE.

So...has AWE chimed in on this? Their silence is a bad omen...

This is not my unit but on a friends car. When she gets back from vacation I will let her respond. They are going to work with her on a fix.

Update: Feb 8, they more than made it right, we are back on board!

THIS SOUNDS WAY BETTER than mine. I understand it will sound diff on startup BUT I have a disquinshed RATTLE. I still have it at Porshe as they are waiting to see if I will send it off or not to have exhaust fixed OR I would take the vid (I did not as it is in for aero up kit install) and make sure it was of good sound quality.

They have contacted me and I am waiting to hear back from them on possible fix and cost. I assume I won't hear anything until early next week.

Default now I'm happier

I have been wondering if I made a mistake putting the PSE on as aftermarket ... based on this I'm much happier with my choice. I may upgrade at some point in time but for right now the PSE is working great and I'm loving it. (Worst case is that I now have the switch and tubing to manage the valves if I do want to upgrade.)

I don't understand why everyone seems to be coming down on AWE. The video which shows nothing of concern, was someones first post (still no introduction) and then the subsequent "friend's" over reaction and removal of posts is just lame...

My AWE switch path has been great from the out set, and when I did have a problem AWE were on it straight away. As I said before (and I stand by my words) The AWE switch path is a great American product supported by a great team.

You know what, you are one cheeky fellow making assumptions when you have no clue what you are talking about. We have both been in talks with them, not you. If I was happy with the outcome, I would have kept my posts. Thats my decision.

And if you can't hear that noise, get your ears checked. It was taped off a cellphone for gad sakes. What do you want her to do, run a studio condenser mike down there so you are happy. We both said it sounds worse in person. And in not one of our posts did either of us say they were horrible and not a great American product. We all have opinions for different reasons. Geesh!

And maybe when shes back from vacation she will introduce herself. But after reading your first post to hers. I am thinking you came off sounding like a smart a##. "What are we meant to be hearing". We will work on a better recording just for you! Its funny when she sent that same recording to AWE, they heard it fine! And they are going to fix it! She is waiting to hear back from them to get a price for that!

I started asking if anyone has had this issue before and WAS not coming down on AWE, just trying to get some GOOD feedback. Also didn't realize I offended by not introducing myself and was more interested at the time to figure this **** out before my car is not at service center any longer for installation of aero up kit.

I am the second owner of the 2014 911 Carerra 4s. Did not install the AWE system myself and unfortunately the car was started for me out of sight during my test driving Etc. I LOVE the system except for startup.

After getting more smartass comments than help or positive feedback, maybe I will think twice next time.

Some gave great feedback and I appreciate that, thanks.

May end up keeping system anyway depending on over all cost to fix.

Hi Demhips,

Its all good now as AWE did it right. You are on a plane and will see this when you get off. But you will be happy! And so am, I knowing I am keeping her!
