Default AWE Exhuast Pinging on First Startup

I have a AWE exhaust on my 911 4s. On first start up there is a distinct pinging sound. After it warms and RPMs decrease it stops.

It's driving me nuts and makes the car sound like crap on startup.

There isn't anything externally that is causing the issue, as I had that checked out.

I will attach a recording. I am not the orginal owner so the warranty doesn't transfer. Talking to a rep there it sounded like they might at least help to figure out issue but I was bailed on. They said no biggie, basically deal with it.

I say take it off and drop it off at your local hookah lounge as a donation.

We might as well call this the AWE "regret" board now

Sounds normal to me. Mine has the same sound for about 20 seconds. It does not bother me at all. In fact, I didn't even notice it until I read this post.

What are we meant to be hearing? I've listened to it many times and it all sound normal to me...I am confused.. A car starting up..? the vacuum lines hissing..?(maybe re-seat them) the valves doing what..? building up air pressure so the close..? then everything running sweet..? which bit of the 20 seconds of start up and settle to idle noise is bugging you so much...

Does it do it on a restart when the car is warmed up to normal temperature?

And hey maybe an intro to you and your car.. Hello and welcome..

If that is normal that is terrible. Maybe it was the cell phone quality mic and my laptop speakers but it still sounded like there was an unnecessary vibration. The fact that is goes away after it warms up seems it is strictly the valves on the AWE.

Its way worse than the mike on the phone is picking up. Some ears might not hear it well in the recording. I can hear it, but in person its terrible. They will get it figured out.

Default notice this...

interesting that the Cargraphic version of this X pipe has a sprung "trombone"
design to mitigate thermal expansion & contraction...
