Grigio Campovolo Y99 - PTS - Here At Last!
Ordered beginning of May, collected from dealer 23 Dec. Spoiler alert - I am over the moon with this wonderful car.
Grigio Campovolo is a historic Fiat colour and is currently used by their Abarth division. The Porsche PTS variant (paint code Y99) is very similar to the Abarth original. The following photo taken today, shows my GTS parked close to an Abarth of the same colour - is this a world-first; an evidenced meeting of both Abarth’s and Porsche’s Grigio Campovolo? Have this exclusive on me, my fellow Rennlisters!
Grigio Campovolo (hereafter referred to as ‘GC’) is a light shade of grey. It has little to zero colour in it. In the flesh, it resembles standard primer, albeit gloss. However, when reviewing the snaps that I took today over a 1 hour period this afternoon, it seems that the camera picks up the reflected colours rather easily. Thus the tones in the photos vary from cream to blue depending on whatever was being reflected - sunset, sky, cloud, etc.
So why pay a few £grand for a non-colour? I can’t even convince myself that this was a rational decision let alone convince you. My usual basis of colour selection is paired with the wheels: dark wheels = light body colour, light wheels = dark body colour. As the GTS’ wheels are black, the car had to be light. Crikey, this is a weak argument. Anyway, Meissen Blue, which I had seen on a 356, appealed to me but hadn’t been approved at the time I was putting the order together. And other pale oranges and greens also appealed, but finding examples in the flesh proved elusive. Then one day I bumped into GC on a Carrera 4S in the showroom and, well, bingo!
To complete the monochrome look, I added a good dose of rhodium contrast stitching to complement the GTS package. All of the following with deviation:
CUJ Fuse box cover in leather
CXN Extended interior package rear in leather
CZW Extended interior package dashboard trim in leather
XNS Steering column casing in leather
XTG Inner door sill guards n leather
CTK Air vents in leather
XWK Sports seat Plus backrests in leather
XXX Steering wheel - Damn the expense
Would I do it again? The 8 month wait for PTS, the additional cost for the custom spec, the anxiety, etc? Absolutely.
Now I’ve got miles of enjoyable motoring ahead of me and a session at the Silverstone experience centre in a couple of weeks time, so I best get cracking.
Many thanks to all who contribute to this forum, and specifically to Z356, 3mph, OMG, Reuben, Sezme, Hinkley, Jupjai & Pyramid who provided PTS/moral support and/or answers to my sometimes naive build questions. And also to Freeman for encouraging restraint - look I have no sun-roof!

I have been waiting for these pics for nearly as long as you Puf... Absolutely love the colour, it contrasts with the black so well (just like another car I know).
The spec inside is 'specced'... woah... always loved Sports seat Plus backrests in leather. As special inside as out. Congratulations. Definitely a keeper..
Must get together in the New Year..

I love the look of the white and black contrast on this ride. Wheels and headlights on black on the GTS just make the white look like a subtle beast.
Nice work on the interior as well. Enjoy the ride!

Congrats to that beauty! Perfect combo. The exterior and interior are
working perfect. Enjoy it to the maximum.
Your car reminds me a bit of the 991 50th Edition. Don't know why but i saw your car and that was one of my first thought.

Very sweet! I like. Congrats.
The right hand drive throw's me for a loop every time. I have to ask myself, why??? I could never get used to it. I suppose lefties must love it for shifting.

Congratulations Puf...
Daniel (lessthan3mph) will love this color since he
almost ordered his gt3 in this unusual hue. He did
switch to 'Fashion Grey / Modegrau' before his PTS
order finalized...but I am sure he'll be impressed
with this 'Grigio Campovolo' color!
It's definitely lighter than 'Nardo Gray'. I am having
a '16 Audi RS7 being built this week in Neckarsulm
which will be 'Nardo Gray'.
But, like all of these interesting 'grays', it changes
its tone according to light conditions & camera lenses
used.

Love the contrasting stitching with the overall build! After seeing the other GC, did you consider any other greys and/or see any together to directly compare? Or you made up your mind right away? As you know I'm trying to find "my" grey.
