Should be a mandatory briefing item from the salesperson upon delivery, so as not to freak out the new buyer.

It's the power steering option. It's goes in power mode at very slow speeds especially when reverse. Always makes mine skip too.

Agree on the sticky suggestion and on the search engine.

Also search Ackerman effect on the web.

Based on a 981 and two 991s it's worse with P-Zeros than Michelin Pilot Super Sports and the 4s so far is more prone to this than was our 2s.

Is it related to the power steering ? I never experienced this problem with my previous 997.1. Happens all the time with my 991.

Nope - not steering but suspension geometry. Search Ackerman on Wikipedia.

I agree with LexVan. Those who are regulars tend to have less and less patience and tolerance. However, all of us were beginners at some point in time. Peace and Happy Holidays everyone.

Welcome to the Board, Aman and enjoy your car.

I don't.

Google "Porsche 911 front tires skipping" and tell me what you see.

If you want to take it a step further (for the initiated) Google "Porsche 911 front tires skipping site:rennlist.com" .

To the mods: I do like the sticky idea (although many folks tend not to read stickys) using "front tires skipping when making slow, sharp turns...Ackerman Effect" (or something of that nature) ALONG WITH editing the title of the Acorn thread to better the search results. Acorn and Ackerman are words few will use when searching for information on the topic at hand.

It all comes down to the search words you use. I just typed in "Porsche 911 skid" and it doesn't come up with anything regarding the acorn effect. Give the guy some slack, it's really not that big of a deal.

Maybe there should be an alert when trying to start a thread that flags these words
add cell phone holder, cup holders, 991.2 , front licence plate, wicked , vivid, +20hp , child car seats......

As usual, new members are put off and discouraged. The consequences? Less traffic - less advertising clicks. Guess who the mods are going to punish? The new guys or the guys who can't control themselves from clicking on threads that they're not interested in and putting up useless posts.

It's obviously too much to ask people to search the forum before they start a new thread which has been hashed over 20x in the last 3 years. If this was a Yugo forum, you might have a point. Or if this was a millenium only forum I could understand your point. Unfortunately it is neither

According to Wiki, Ackermann discovered the outside wheels travel along a greater radius than the inside. So he then designed steering geometry to correct for this effect. Ackermann steering has been in use ever since. But why would you think this method of correcting that problem is causing this one?

It was a humbling experience for me to have the pretty young lady in the Porsche service department explain to me that it is perfectly normal for the wide tires on a 911 to skip in sharp slow speed turns in the parking lot.
