Why the base stereo wattage downgrade?
Why does the second generation 991 base stereo only have 150 watts versus the base in the first generation offering 235 watts; yet the car costs $7K more, minimally? Speculation: the second generation car is quieter, therefore less watts required for it to be adequately heard at driving speed?
Any other thoughts?

The irony is they'll be able to hear it now because the car is quieter

I custom ordered the car with the base stereo, which sounds great to me. When I test drove the car I listened to the Bose and can't tell the difference.

Also.... Been driving a pos ford for the last 2 years. The base 911 stereo is prob just as good if not better. Sometimes it's good to be ignorantly UNaudiophiled.

Me too. Test drove a cert used w burmeister... To my UNTRAINED and prob nearly deaf hear, was nothing to write home about. I don't question its place in the world, but I could give a list of 10 things for $5k I'd rather have/find much more useful.

I have Bose in one, base in the other. There is a difference, but much of it depends on the source. If you use a good source in the base system, it sounds okay. Radio sounds awful in the base through, truth be told. And the Bose has a sub, where the base doesn't correct?

I had the base stereo in my first 997 Carrera, then the upgraded Bose in my 997 turbo. Night and day experience. The Bose filled the cabin, where the base stereo had no depth. Of course I would only listen to the stereo during times that didn't interfere with the engine noise, i.e., while sitting in traffic, etc.

That's part I don't get "cutting" cost in a car that minimally costs $7K more than the one it replaces? So...the 991.2 gives you more horsepower but less wattage for a lot more money??
