Burning Brakes
Did a drive this weekend early AM in the Bay Area -Lucas Valley to Nicasio, Marshall, then down to the 1. Was surprised to see morning temps of 30 degrees along the way on Lucas Valley Road.
Added 4 lbs of pressure to the rear and 2 to the front per the TPMS system. Also went from comfort partial to comfort fully loaded + 1LB to try and protect these wheels because of road construction around my house and on Embarcadero. Our city workers dig up pipes, then cover holes with those thick steel plates leaving a 1-1.25" sharp corner you have to drive over, or else leave a 2" sharp edge unfilled trench along the route of said pipes. I have to think there is incredible liability for motorcyclists and scooter riders. The dangers of our crappy roads in SF are no joke.

Don't forget it was Obama that told you to keep your tires properly inflated years ago (in case your Dad didn't) so I expect about 47% of you to now go and deflate your tires
PS Any car with wide tires and lots of caster will get tire scrub

Hey everyone! Just a safety bump. Temps in the midwest (I'm at Road America this weekend) are falling into the mid 50s at night time/early morning hours. Check those tire pressures. Get ready for the acorns. Be safe.

My only warm up is waiting for the idle to drop after initial start up. During those 20 seconds or so I use the MFD to check oil level and tire pressure.
They have dropped about a pound. But I live is So Cal so cold weather is not really an issue.

Just realized the other day that I was at 30/38.
I've brought the pressures up to 38/45 as per the door jamb sticker.
Thanks for the "reminder" thread!
Oh and apparently a quart of oil had vaporized over the last 4400 miles so took care of that as well.

It's that time of the year again. Check those tire pressures, and get ready for the "acorns effect".
Air teps were in the low 50's this morning as I left for the club races at Road America. They were in the mid 40's this early AM up in Elkhart Lake.
Be safe!

Hey Guys/Gals and Chuck, check those tire pressures. Temps are starting to drop with the changing of the seasons, and you'll see this in your cold tire pressures.
And get ready for The Acorn Effect. I know exactly what this is, and it still freaks the hell out of me when the car is parked and cools way down. I thought a wheel fell of the other day.
Be safe.

109 here yesterday, not a chirping tire in sight...
