Default PSE and X-73 Install Costs - OMG!

I just got a quote from my dealer to do an install of PSE on my C2S and the X73 suspension on my Cayman S, and I was shocked to say the least. These are for installation only, not for the parts.

PSE Install $2,000

X73 Install, including Alignment $2,450

Am I the only one who thinks those are outrageously high? There's no way I'm going to pay $2,000 for an exhaust install on top of $2500 for the parts.

Exhaust install seems high. I believe I paid for 4-5 hours to have PSE installed on a CaymanR a few years ago.

PSE install quote is too high. Shop around to other dealers.

Why are Cayman install costs in a 991 forum?

I've not done a pipe on a Cayman, but in my 991 I can do a full cat-back exhaust swap (center and two side mufflers) in 2 hours in my garage.

How well does the dealer know you? Did you go in with gold chains on the neck n glasses thick as coke bottles that were from the Elton John Collection? JK. I think we all agree that NOW you know the dealer a whole lot better! Better luck with your next quote!

I believe he said exhaust on his C2S and suspension on his Cayman, not exhaust and suspension on the cayman.

They know me well enough to know that I only buy leftover cars at a discount.

I'm going to check with another dealer.

To put the PSE center pipe on a C2S 991 is 45 minutes once the rear end is raised up, the rear bumper cover does not have to be removed. To install the PSE switch in the center console is 2 minutes. To remap the A/C switching system so that the PSE button in the console will work require the Porsche dealer computer and they bill 1 hour for that (probably takes 10 minutes, tops). If shop time is $ 130 an hour, then 3 hours would be generous = $ 390.

I paid around the same($4500+taxes) to add PSE to my C2. Certainly felt pricey and made me pause for a moment. But wow! no regrets now. Improved my driving experience significantly. Hope you find someone to do your install.

I'm not comfortable having a non-Porsche dealer do the install on PSE, so I'm going to try another dealer. If they're in the same range, I'm going to kill the idea and probably go the Sharkwerks option instead. Or nothing. Multiple sources I've researched indicate that a PSE install is 4-6 hours max. How that turns into $2k, I'm not sure...
