Why can't Porsche build a tt that sounds good?

I just watched the new Chris Harris review of the Ferrari 488, as I'm sure many of you have. It sure looks like a bad *** looking AND sounding twin turbocharged motor. Why can't the Porsche tt motor sound like this instead of like a Hoover vacuum? Is it something inherent to a flat six vs V8 design. I wonder if Porsche will be able to improve this on the new 911.

Engine layout.
A V-shaped layout (especially a flat plane one) will always sound different than a flat-six found in the 911s.

I'm with ya, 96Red. Loved the thrust of my TT, but when I went in to replace it with a 991TT and test drove an S with PSE, I realized it wasn't more thrust I wanted -- it was the sound of more thrust!

He means the old base 997.2/991.1 steering wheel ( with shift rocker buttons on the spokes for PDK ) is finally retired . Same goes for the old 997.2/ 991.1 " Sport Design " one ( with shift requests via " flappy paddles " for PDK ) .
All 991.2 will have only the newer design Macan / 918 - style steering wheel - whether manual tranny or PDK - and come either plain or with optional multifunction controls depending on model .
The requested shifts on the PDK version of this new wheel occurs via " flappy paddles " behind the spokes . Two - way rocker buttons allowing one handed driving / shifting going back 25 yrs with the 964 Tiptronic are finally retired from the 911 series.
