I'm assuming the full logo comes prepped from the factory, not letter by letter, no? So, unless the body shop was playing a joke, it would seem to be a Porsche error. Who knows.

The factory template has the actual letters, P O R S C H E stamped out. Nearly impossible to put the wrong letter in the open slot.

If the letters were removed and re-used by the shop then it's quite clear how this happened. Double sided emblem tape is used every day in the autobody business. If there's no damage to the existing letters and the customer pushes the shop to 'save' them the deductible you'd be amazed what can be spiffed up and reused. When I was in that business 20 years ago and a customer asked me to save them their deductible I would pull out the estimate and say, "Sure thing, which parts of the repair do you want us not to do?" The look of horror on their face showed me that I got my point across. Saving someone $500 on a $3,000 accident has to come from somewhere, and it's not the profits.

I remember when people used to paint over the Toyota logo on the back of their small pickups to read TOY. Usually this was accompanied with a Calvin peeing window decal or a No Fear sticker.
