mikegee-

good point on the cab top never going up. I also own a pretty cool looking triple black 1972 Corvette convertible. I keep the top down on that thing most of the summer.

Sunroofs are worthless, IMO.

I had a 996 for 3.5 years, and the sunroof was open only twice during that time; once when I bought the car to see if it worked, and the second time to clean & condition the weather striping.

I have had my 997.2 for 3.5 years and the sunroof has never been open during that time.

I always order sunroofs on my cars (no Porsche yet), but I rarely use it -maybe less than five times a year.

But...

For me it's a must have because I like the moonroof. I like the light it lets into the car.

I rarely USE the glass sunroof in my pickup and X5 - and I love them! I always leave the screen open and let in the light in and it's especially awesome at night. In my wife's X5 the huge panoramic glass roof is wicked. I even like the way it looks on the 991.

I almost dropped the extra coin on a 4S in the same color and options my S has but the 4S didn't have the sunroof the day I purchased my car. At the time I preferred not to have it.

Like the other fellas I rarely open it all the way.

My 8 year old daughter wanted to open it a few times for fun.

I drive 99.9% of the time with the screen shut so the sun isn't shining directly on me.

I can tell you though that if I want to drive on the freeway/highway with the drivers window all the way down but don't want to crack the passenger window I occasionally pop to sunroof open on tilt. It eliminates the buffeting 100%.

A annoying as hell buzzing sound has developed recently from the headliner right beneath the area of the passenger sun visor. The only way to eliminate it is to press on it with my hand as I'm driving. What a bitch. Probably will require the dealer removing the entire alcantara headliner to fix. Not interested.

To summarize, even though it's the sunroof in glass and a black car you don't notice it, I could do without that sunroof for the remainder of ownership of the car. Not a dealbreaker.

Enjoy that Green Machine!

Do you guys remember these? I always wanted one but my parents were always broke so I had to ride and crash the neighbors kids. #memories.

Sorry for the tangent. That color of your car reminded me of it.

I have the sunroof and I regret having it (a little bit). The car is not my DD (my DD is a bicycle), but when I ordered it, I wanted it to be a all-purpose weapon, I even thought about ordering the the roof racks. Now, I only use the car only a toy and have a BMW for carrying stuff and family around. And I would prefer to have the toy very reduced to the essence. Less distraction, more driving experience.

My car is my DD, and I love my sunroof (metal). I wish it was glass as I also love that look on the 991. There is nothing better to me than opening both windows and the sunroof and feeling the smells and sounds of the drive home after a long day at work. Interestingly, I've never really enjoyed the sunroof on other cars I've owned because I found them too noisy or window. This one is perfect for me...

So to summarize:

a) some people like them but could go either way.

b) some people don't like them but could go either way.

c) some people love them and they are a must in any car.

d) some people hate them and will not consider a car with them.

e) some people feel one way or the other but understand why other people feel the opposite.

f) some people are adamant that the way they feel about sunroofs is correct and other people just haven't been exposed to the proper argument or they would have already converted to the correct opinion.

I think that about sums it up for sunroofs. Future responders can save us all time by just putting down your letter.

Yes, I would regret not having a sunroof.
Just for the "Tilt Up" feature.
Just the right amount of air in...just the right amount of Sound coming in...

The Way it Looks from the outside...

Priceless!

I would not buy one without it, No question.

Speaking of personal preference, anyone tried the Chicago sunroof?

Well, since NoGaBiker made it so simple...

I'm firmly in the "C" camp. Planning for the glass sunroof option... hopefully that's possible with the Club Coupe.
