Why go turbo?

Don't laugh, back in 1999 I owned a Honda S2000 and YES the MT was brilliantly precise. That was almost 16 years ago and I still think that it was the best 6sd MT I have ever had.

Yes, S2000 (along with Miata 5speed) had one of the best gearboxes I've ever experienced. But let's be fair -- there's a big difference in a short shift lever sticking straight up out of the gearbox into your hand, and one connected by cables or rods to a remote transaxle somewhere up front, even if they come from the same manufacturer.

The 6 speed in the recent Boxter'Caymans is pretty good too. I fully expect the new GT4 to be proclaimed the sweet spot in the Porsche lineup.

I learned how to drive a stick on a (generous) friend's S2000. It was such a slick gearbox. Honda / Acura gearboxes are generally very, very good. Had a 5 speed manual in a RSX and a 6 speed manual in a TL Type S. Both were far superior to a BMW manual, for example. In my opinion, the Porsche 7 MT (which I had in my '13 C2S) was the best of them all, though.

PDK is awesome, and it's engaging in a different way . . . but it's no manual. Truth is, the TT may be too fast for a manual. I certainly wouldn't be able to shift quickly enough to maximize the performance.
