And don't forget, "brilliantly precise" manual transmission! Brilliantly precise! Wow!

Don't laugh, back in 1999 I owned a Honda S2000 and YES the MT was brilliantly precise. That was almost 16 years ago and I still think that it was the best 6sd MT I have ever had.

Yes, S2000 (along with Miata 5speed) had one of the best gearboxes I've ever experienced. But let's be fair -- there's a big difference in a short shift lever sticking straight up out of the gearbox into your hand, and one connected by cables or rods to a remote transaxle somewhere up front, even if they come from the same manufacturer.

I had a NSX and the shifter/transmission in that car was fantastic.

Yes indeed, you are right about the reason, however the reply was in response to a sarcastic "brilliantly precise" comment to a Honda transmission....that's all

The 6 speed in the recent Boxter'Caymans is pretty good too. I fully expect the new GT4 to be proclaimed the sweet spot in the Porsche lineup.

I learned how to drive a stick on a (generous) friend's S2000. It was such a slick gearbox. Honda / Acura gearboxes are generally very, very good. Had a 5 speed manual in a RSX and a 6 speed manual in a TL Type S. Both were far superior to a BMW manual, for example. In my opinion, the Porsche 7 MT (which I had in my '13 C2S) was the best of them all, though.

Are you missing the shifting in your Turbo? Are you missing ANYTHING in that beauty?

LOL, Chuck. The only thing I'm missing (on occasion, not all the time) is the MT. For much of my commute, I drive in fairly moderate to heavy traffic. Don't miss the MT then. But then I hit some open road, and I have to confess, I do miss it.

PDK is awesome, and it's engaging in a different way . . . but it's no manual. Truth is, the TT may be too fast for a manual. I certainly wouldn't be able to shift quickly enough to maximize the performance.
