Love the GT4. My Cayman S (987) was a great track car. I modded it to 320 hp, spacers, sticky tires and stiffer anti-roll bars and it was even better. I am sorely tempted by this car.

Lack of PDK is interesting. An intentionally nutured move. Put a PDK a in that thing and the performance window approaches GT3 for 60 to 70% of the cost.

+1. It's even more intelligence-insulting than Porsche's usual habit of kneecapping the engine, IMHO.

Of course, both of you are correct.

I misread his statement. Speed reading does that some time. I read ... "I wish the 5-lug wheels were on option on the Carrera GTS!"... but he wrote "I wish these 5-lug wheels were on option on the Carrera GTS!"... which is why I responded the way I did. I have gone back and modified my original statement.

Was just trying to help. I certainly won't make that mistake again!

The PDK will be on the way. They're catering to the manual enthusiast first which is fine seeing the GT3 has no option.

It's also classic Porsche marketing by staggering the offerings and not throwing everything out there at once. Look at the releases of the various 991 models.

HP is understated at 385 too. It's around the 400 mark. Same as the Carrera S.

The manual transmission is one of the MOST appealing features of this car to me, to each his own. There's still a lot of "row your own" holdouts out there.

BTW, I don't know how serious I am about this, but I contacted my dealer sales guy yesterday inquiring about the GT4. He says nothing in concrete yet, but they expect to have 3 allocations for July delivery, then unknown after that. Thus far only one has been claimed. I'm very tempted but don't think I'm willing to take the depreciation hit on my 991 just yet.

What happened to the PDK? If the turbo/GT3 only have PDKs which are "slightly" faster, why bother. I just switched from my C2s (7MT) to a Turbo with only PDK. I loved MT this will be my first sports car with a PDK.

Which is THE reason it's offered in manual only. This was not done as a nod to the "purists" one iota. This was done to keep it on a chain (6 speed no less, to further limit it) until the next gen Carreras come out so they stay King. If this GT4 had a PDK with launch control it would have immediately blown the base Carrera away by a mile and matched or beaten the C2S as well.

Funny thing is they said they will "consider" the PDK in a year or two. It's so obvious what they're doing and why.

Great car though. A mostly "stripped" model is the steal in the lineup for sure. I doubt you'll find a dealer car under 100k sticker though. 5 grand for batman seats lol! And probably half with PCCB just so ppl won't get as much wheel dust lmao!
