Correct....Love the car and the price point is very reasonable in comparison to the S/ GTS models...Not sure they will have PTS available on this very limited production run?

For marketing purposes they need to have it lower on paper because of the 911.

The buzz on the 991 and GT3 forums is very positive which is great for a Cayman.

It's impressive they've stepped up with this car and put together a nice package. They probably put the 911 engine in there because they need to burn through them with 991.2 turbos on the way (new engines of course). My assumptions!

The question is, are you lining up orders for your pals on Rennlist here?

Tracking or Daily Driving I think Caymans are better suited, because of mid-engine (for tracking) and rear trunk (for daily driving).

If the Caymans tighter more upright seating does not bother you, it's the better choice.
Especially for the cost savings.

My desire for the rear trunk is that the frunk is a hassle (too low and deep) and cargo flying around in the back seats, during aggressive driving is no fun.
The 911 advantage is ability to recline the driver seat more comfortably and maybe carry a 3rd passenger, on occasion.

I wish these 5-lug wheels were an option on the Carrera GTS!

Edit: I misread your statement and have deleted my original response which was incorrect.

Yes, I saw that you can get a leather steering wheel and a leather shifter on the GT4.

Are you suggesting that the GT4 is yet another "parts bin" special?

OK, I know you weren't necessarily suggesting that but...

Have you even looked at the GT4 pictures? They are not the same as the Carrera S wheels available on the GTS.

Which is more reason, Porsche could have given it 430HP, as it still would still accelerate slower than a 991S w/ PDK. The steering wheel looks great! I want to try and retrofit that.
You might be surprised... I didn't hear AP say anything about a detuned engine.

Yeah in fact he was clearly having fun joking about it putting out 385 hp "at 10,000 feet at 40 degrees" and "call it 385-ish." Seriously though it sure looks like Porsche has scored another true GT car success.

The Cayman sure is a great platform. Which of course means Boxster coupe. Which is the one thing that makes me smile at the GT4. Because way back in like 2000 or 2001 Squire Tomasie of Squire's Autowerke was (as far as we know) the first to put a 911 engine into the Boxster. I actually got to drive that car before he sold it. The 300 hp 996 engine went in with almost no modifications to engine or car, sat a good 1/2" lower and weighed about 20 lbs less. So it only took Porsche about 14 more years to get around to it.

And yeah, I know, there's a lot more to the GT4 than the engine. But, come on, 14 years?
