I'm not a fan of this, but folks, look to the Panamera, Macan, and new Cayenne, for answers to what happens to the turbo vs. Turbo models. It is quite simple, really.

The only ones I'm concerned about are the future (992?) GTS and GT3/RS.

In the past, the GTS lingered one refresh longer than the base and S (at N/A vs. FI).

Get a 991 GTS now, while we still can get N/A cars!

Will be hanging onto my 50th.

It does mean if you want an N.A 911 ... its a 991 or nothing...

I wonder if they will dispense with the manual tranny in these cars also?
If power bump is only marginal they could yet keep GT3 NA.

15 HP for turbo lag / worse sound?

I would imagine that would actually make the 991.1 models become more valuable. I had a X5 that went turbo and I really liked the turbo on the car; but I LOVE the low rev torque my 991S turns out. The reality is I love in those RMPs most of the time versus when I really thrash the car

+1!!

No. It will be here at US P-dealers in calendar year 2015!

I would prefer the Carreras remain n/a. Although turbocharging will be a boon for those of us who live at altitude. Much less power loss.
Oh and it's not progress as much as it's meeting government dictated regulations.

Yeah. I point to the Panamera GTS, for example, which remained N/A despite the S going turbo.

Take my word for it guys. As someone who just purchased a 2015 M4 this will not be a good change for what we all love about the P Carrera.

No way to fight forward progress. Well, almost impossible but that's another story.

Ferrari actually "tunes' their exhaust at the cost of a few hp. Not much but enough to mention.

I absolutely love the way my S sounds with PSE. besides the 400hp, it's the second most enjoyable aspect of my car.

Porsche went to great lengths to create the beautiful exhaust note we have with the 991 with PSE. I'm hopeful that they will do everything they can to engineer a beautiful exhaust note with the turbo carreras we talk about in this thread.

As long as the base Carrera and S have a great exhaust note, few will care or even be able to tell they are driving a turbo. I hope!

I have a good friend that owns a 991 Turbo S and he is jealous about how good the PSE on my lowly Carrera S sounds with the factory PSE.

The comment from 96redLT4 has relevance.

More power, torque are good things. I do enjoy the fact that I need to drive my car on the pipe for it to make peak HP and torque. It's not a Camaro. I have a 400 hp Impala if I want to roast the tires at 2,000 rpm.

Just a few random comments on the topic.

Thanks to the OP for sharing the latest news. It's a great read.

Turbocharging does indeed represent progress. Being forced to buy turbo's by government edict is not. It is progressive. Progressive of course being the term the communists preferred before settling on liberal. Which I guess is why you are right to use the scare quotes.

A sad day for the 911, yes. But let's not lose sight of the real loser here: liberty.

I thought you were talking about the .2 997 GTS...since we usually don't care much what PAG does with Panameras, Cayennes, Macans or any other heavy weight transportation vehicle!

PS By the way, Chuck has gone 1941 on us! I kind of liked his European travel poster epoch. But he'll get on a new kick soon enough.
