On that note, I wonder how long they'll take orders for GTS. Maybe into the early production of 991.2?

My salesman says March at the latest (his speculation, but he's been doing this a long time at Porsche); and we all know, they could stop taking orders at any time. It's gotten me a little edgy. I need to work out my color choices. Just can't get there yet.

Well, I was specifically asking about ordering for myself, and he knows I'm wanting a C2 Coupe; so he could have just been answering that question. Or he could be wrong. But he was adamant that NA Carreras end in 2015. (He may be wrong -- doubtful -- but he's not trying to "push me into a car right now" or anything. Been dealing with him since the 986 years. He's a "long term relationship" guy.)

You are neutering the Boxter/Cayman.
Leave them alone ; )
I think base Carrera should be a bargian lightweight 380HP Turbo 4 with stellar handling dynamics.
It will bring lots of buyers in.
Also just one displacement of 6.
Power can be adjusted with engine mapping.
Turbo, of course, should stay 3.8L.

At least this lets them show what a 4 can do and change some minds about the future of engines.
If its 150lb lighter, it could post some great performance and excellent gas mileage.
Thats a win-win for many new age buyers.
Why not cast a wider net?
Otherwise, having a base model is a complete waste of effort.

Not that many people buy the Base now, using the same value logic.

However, would the following interest you;
9K RPM, 400HP, Turbo 4.
Race Program block & internals.
Reduced weight.
Stellar handling.
40MPG highway cruising.
$20K less than S.
I might fall for it in 2018.
Hopefully, keeping my S till then.

Sounds like they are reintroducing a 944 turbo. May as well put the motor up front and call it a day. I wouldn't be against it if the price was substantially lower.
