I would love some feedback on the wood trim option.

Not worth the premium?
Kind of cheesy?
Luxurious?
Super classy?
A natural fit with natural leather two tone espresso / cognac?

 

If paired with the right color interior the wood trim looks great. It adds a real classy look to an already stellar interior. Quite a few people have made the switch from black or aluminum to wood trim through Suncoast.

I've had Porsches with wood, carbon fiber, plastic. They're all great!

 

Its obviously a matter of personal choice and preference. In my opinion sports cars and wood trim are not a combination I would pick. In other vehicles such as Lexus, Bentley, Range Rover etc. wood trim seems to complement the ambiance of opulence and luxury better.

My older 911 had wood so does my 993. When I was ordering my C2S with wood trim last spring there was a lot of strong opinions against it on this forum. We were even considering getting a set of carbon trim for backup in case it turned out bad. When the car arrived it was stunning! I really like how it looks with the red/black. The mahogany has a red/brown tint so it matches well with reds or browns. The configurator was pretty true to color matching.

It does ok with the cognac/espresso, but I'm not a huge fan.... just doesn't seem like it goes on a sportscar...
My first trip to the dealer, the saleschick was showing me around a few 911's in the showroom and said that she really liked the wood. I kept a straight face...

 

I concur, unless to spec the appropriate exterior color and interior leather to go for a retro look it just cheapens the whole car making it look like some Japanese 'luxury' sedan interior...

but beauty is in the eye of the beholder...

My opinion is that the wood option looks better on a Cayenne or a Pano. That said - not a wood option guy - reminds me of old man Mercedes.

On a 911 - I would pick the painted, aluminum or CF options. On resale if I looked at a 911 with all of the options that I wanted, except that it had the wood package. I may pass or pay for the replacement with CF or Aluminum

I think wood looks okay with the espresso/ cognac interior, but agree that the aluminum, CF or body color trim works better with a sports car like the 911. That said, it's clearly an issue of personal taste, and it shouldn't matter what people on this forum think. If I recall correctly from another thread, you're leasing, not buying -- correct? If so, pay no attention to resale value, etc. (even if buying, there's a decent argument to be made for buying what you want and not focusing on resale value of various options). Just my 2 cents.

 

It's a shame they don't have the anthracite birch option (selectable on a Panamera). Would be a great option with several interior 911 colour schemes if you like wood on a 911.

 

Wood is definitely in the eye of the beholder. I've seen cars where it looked great, the next person says too bad they put wood trim. I've seen cars where the wood trim looked absolutely hideous, then seen that car held up as a stunning example. (I was stunned too, I guess.) So if you like it, get it. But be prepared, its one of the more polarizing options.
