I'm in need of an compact air pump to feed air into my 991' tires. Air gauge is not a requirement, but I need the air pump plugged on wall socket instead of cigarette lighter.

Also, I need them to be made in Germany or US. What do you guys recommend? What do you guys use at the moment?

I guess if you are actually changing a tyre at home (taking it off the wheel) it would be required but otherwise, I'm just interested, why would you need one?
In 40 years of car ownership my requirement for a portable - or home - pump has been exactly zero.

Either (a) the tyre had a puncture so required a change or (b) the pressure was checked at a station and adjusted there.

Both voltages and outlets are different in the US and Germany than Japan. Anything sold in Japan however will be made for 100 volts with US (non-polarity) plugs. (And thanks for reminding me how they screwed up our plugs with the polarity mandate!) That makes this one really hard to answer for anyone outside Japan.

I use inverter at home so any plugs and voltage are good.

As for gas station, yes one can do that, but it is a matter of convenience to have things at home (garage) within your grasp!

You could try a pump but will probably find a compressor works better. The difference is a compressor has a storage tank. Pumps are very slow and only operate while actually putting air in the tire. There is an inflator in my 991 frunk but use http://www.viaircorp.com/85P.html . It is quieter, works faster, and runs cooler...but it does have a 12v plug.

That's the same one I linked to above. Probably one of the better 12v pumps, but I sure would get tired of threading it on and off every time....

One of my favorite features of my current home is: The previous owner ran drop down airlines from a central compressor to both garage areas. I hated having to look for gas station air; they are becoming scarce.

I have one from Black & Decker. I used it maybe twice a year on tires when they're a bit low. I used it for basketball or inflatable pool toys most of the time. It's noisy and it's made in china like everything else.

If your using it at home buy a small Emglo compressor, I have had one for 30yrs. It does all sorts of tasks.

I have the Goodyear i8000 tire inflator that I'm quite happy with. I have a retractable power cord in the ceiling, so I can easily plug the inflator in and go wherever I need to in the garage.
