I just completed a garage renovation this weekend that took about four times longer to do than I planned, but then again don't all projects go that way? It's a working garage, so its not as fancy as some you see, but I'm really happy with the way the man-cave turned out. Flooring is Race Deck TuffShield. Oh, and I will never - EVER again tape/mud/sand/paint a 620 s.f. ceiling that is 12' off the ground. That was worst than being waterboarded. And yes, the floor matches my car...lol]
Well done--beautiful. Satisfying, isn't it? I love the fact that it's still a practical, working garage and not just a showroom. I also made the mistake a few years ago, in a different house, of thinking I could tape/spackle/paint the garage myself in my "spare" time. What I thought would be a weekend project dragged on for a few weeks, with me running into the kitchen with paint in my eye on more than one occasion. "Ohhh--I can have a professional do this for not a huge amount of money, in a fraction of the time?!?"

I hear ya. We watch HGTV and see house prices in other parts of the country--beautiful 4500+ sq ft homes with multi-car garages, all for a fraction of what we would pay here. Now why again are we living on Long Island?

Because this is where I was born and raised. But after the kids are all off to college I'm mulling a move upstate. I already have a place at Killington but the GROT is if you want to move to new England, go to New Hampshire for the tax advantages.
Here ya go, I have the ultimate car guy house for you guys....its $ 4 million and only has two bedrooms, but that's one more than you really need anyways. This is spectacular - don't know many wives that will want to listen to the Ferraris in their kitchen, so its probably best as a bachelor pad. Wow.

We settled here in large part because my in-laws lived here--and now they've moved to Florida!
