Default Sudden Change in Mileage on a Pre-owned Porsche

Hi All,

I am finalizing deal on my pre-loved C2S Cabriolet. I was very happy with the deal I got. When advertised, the car had 6,758 miles. The dealer told me they have had the car one week.

So I am now finalizing paperwork (I am in Calif, car is in Pennsylvania). So I had the dealer take some additional pics. I noticed that now the car has 7,485 miles.

That is more than 800 miles in one week. I have asked for explanation and am waiting for response.

Would just like your thoughts. I know the car is preowned, but if they had advertised it with 7400 miles, I could understand 85 for test drives. But the 800 miles tells me someone took that car on a little vacation.

Thanks for putting up with me. I just have no other sources to vent to, or get advice from. Should I be concerned? Or am I overblowing this?

What's the IRS max? Charge them $0.60 per mile. Did you PPI the car? After an additional 800 miles that PPI ain't worth crap. What was the mileage at the PPI?

I'd still get it as long as it was in the same condition. But I'd ask for a lower price. I'd rather 800 mikes for a highway vaca than 85 miles of cold crank redlines for a dozen test drives.

Maybe the dealer just misread the mileage, typo, or some other advertising snafu. If they tell you it really did have 6700 miles and now has 7400 a week later, I'd want an explanation.
But if the car meets your needs and you're otherwise happy with the deal, what's 700 miles?

If it was a local trade in there should also be a odometer disclosure paper signed by the previous owner that should be available.

Get it, love it, and drive the heck out of it.

Is it a CPO car?

You are smoking the drapes. 800 miles does not change the value of the car. The mileage is probably a type O on the ad.

To be honest if there was not a good explanation I would be ticked............I hate when people do not accurately disclose information. No matter how a great deal it is it would still bother me. Who knows how those last 800 miles were driven. To be honest I would pass.

So did they make a mistake in the original ad or more miles were logged since? I am guessing it was 'manager's car' for the week.

In the end, while the 800 miles concerned me, they actually had car longer than I thought (about 30 days) and yes, the GM was driving it. I gave serious thought to not getting it, but because it met all of my wants, I went ahead.

There is still 3 years on warranty and I had to believe that even if the car was driven the add'l mileage, if there was a problem, they would fix it under warranty.

So in the end, I asked myself if I would have still bought that car with 6700 or 7500 miles and the answer was Yes, since I was looking for a car with less than 10k miles.

I just did not like the surprise of the mileage difference. Thanks again guys.

Why only 3 years left on the warranty? Did you not have it CPO'ed? Not from a Porsche dealer? Just curious...

I'm paranoid and would pass. Sounds like someone at dealer made it his joyride car for a week.
