Vs Jag F type

The F is a beautiful car. I have been in the top line V8 supercharged model several times and it is a BEAST. The exhaust note is also pure music. However IMHO, the 911 (even my humble base model) while being far less powerful presents a much more satisfying experience. Everything is just so precise and well engineered. I also find it vastly more comfortable as the seats in the F do not offer as much adjustability. Here is a pic of my 991 and the Jag at cars and caffe in northern NJ this past weekend. The F got a LOT of attention. [IMG][/IMG]

The F-Type V8 was the car that got me started on the new car search that, eventually, put me in this, my first 911. It's a great car for what it is - drama and presentation. But I wanted something that was more refined and competent.

Someone should do a 911 versus R8 (V8) comparison. Or something similar.
For more than 30k, the 911-50 should be better than the F-Type.
Let's see our car punch above its weight class and see where it comes out.

The 911 has been punching above its class since Day 1. As Seinfeld said of the Carrera GT, "Its not the new benchmark. Its the new bench." All these years later, the more things change, the more they stay the same. The reviewer even caught himself at one point pretty much slamming the Jag and tried to save it with, "and that's okay." But he's not fooling me. Like he said in the beginning, "let's get silly" as in, try and compare a mere car with a 911. Time for one last quote? "Its the British corvette." Sa-LAM!

If it's British reviews, the Porsche stands NO CHANCE ... LOL ... they always end with "British engineering, blablabla ..."

I think the new F coupe version is gorgeous, but I still have my doubts about British longterm reliability, and historically Jaguar doesn't hold value very well.
The 911 is a known quantity. A very well engineered car that will last for a long time if you want it to, and is also good as cash if you ever want or need to sell it quickly.

MTBSCOTT: You are so correct.
We took a bath on our XK8 Convertible (first year out). The wife had to have it. At the time is was real eye candy. I got waived to the side of the road by policeman and old XK owners who wanted to see it and tell old stories. $79K out the door, 3.5 yrs later, 19K miles, professionally washed weekly, 3 months of advertising, we sold it for $30K.
The Jag was a wonderful car and never gave us a problem. It just did not have the platform of the Porsche convertibles we owned. If we went out to dinner, we took my 993 2S. The 993 was a truly amazing car and of course, the one I wish I never sold.
