Polarising topic, yes.

I'll provide a paradoxical view, just my $0.02.

Conventional wisdom says if you drive a race car you want full control and thus manual. If you use it as DD you want convenience thus PDK.

After driving the PDK for a while, in traffic and on the track, I came to this conclusion:

As a DD in traffic I want a manual as the PDK is boring. I want someting to do with my left foot and hand.
On the track I want a PDK as I'm busy enough trying to learn the lines, the braking point, balancing the throttle, steering etc. I barely have spare brain power to cope with changing gears. Also PDK is faster than manual so for a faster lap time, why not?
NB I'm a novice to the track, so if you're a veteran/pro then you may disagree of course.

I test drove both when I was considering ordering. Loved them both. Was going to go MT mostly to save 4 grand which to me was too much to spend on something that was essentially a tie in my mind. But then I found a great deal on an almost perfectly equiped CPO with a PDK so I went with that. No regrets. If you do go with MT, I'd highly sugest SCP. You don't have to enable it, but its an awesome feature and you will miss not having at least the option for it. You also get the fancy mounts and a third throttle map and some other integrated things.
Exactly my experience/situation. When buying cpo there are "must haves" and "prefers" - sometimes you get a great deal and have to leave off a "prefer". That being said I might still trade on a new custom ordered 7mt down the road...

Ah yes, obviously anyone who isn't completely head over heels for PDK must suffer from a psychiatric disorder.

Since 2008, no subject has been more beaten to death than this one and there will never be a definitive winner. Never, never never!!!

seriously guys, which manual or pdk, the decision should be based on which would you drive more. if you love the manual so much and would drive it more because it's more fun, then get the manual. otherwise, pdk. the more you drive the more fun and utility you get from your car, which is the point.

many guys also get a manual because they think it's easier to sell. for older cars, that's always been true. with modern cars (09+), who knows.

Of course not. But someone who says that a PDK-equipped Porsche is "boring" should have his or her thyroid levels checked, just to rule out craniorectal inversion.

There's no such thing as a boring Porsche. Even the less interesting ones. Sorry for opening up a can of worms guys! I must admit, I am rather entertained.....

PDK in Auto - hot girl seating next to you and do the shifting for you. Most of the time she does a great job but sometimes she is doing it too quick or too slow.

Manual - well you know exactly how you want it...

You might want to change your analogy as one might come to the conclusion that manual is better for w@ankers.
