Default speccing a Carmine red 991 TTs cab monday

Hi, first post to the forum!

I currently have a 991 C2s cab, but will be speccing a TTs cab on monday, due to arrive in september

I am considering paying the premium for carmine red, I wondered if anyone had done this already on a 991? I would love to see pics, especially on a cab/turbo

I am in two mind though whether to save my cash and go black, but spend the additional on active cruise and reversing camera + other toys

The search function in this forum is your friend.

Word of caution: Do not rely on photos to make your decision on exterior color. Go see a Panamera or Cayenne in that color before you put down US$5500 or 2,832 pounds for PTS in 'Carmine Red'!

thanks! I actually found that picture on a google search which subsequently led me to this forum - looks very guards red though due to the contrast

I see carmine is a big area of debate, wondered if it had made its way to a cab or turbo yet though...

I put in an order about two weeks ago for a Carmine Red C4S coupe. Build date Sept. The dealer had a C.R. paint sample hanging on the wall, took it out in the sun and compared to a Guards Red car. GR is lighter and little orangish, CR I guess I would call it more fire engine red. Seeing a whole car painted probably looks a lot different than a paint chip.

Very lovely but shouts "arrest me" too loudly for use around these parts.

Yeah, maybe you should go with the more subtle 911 Twin Turbo S in Guards Red. :-)

I really like it in carmine red, specially with glass sunroof. Here is another guards red;

If you do a search on autotrader.co.uk for 911 up to 2 years old you get 167 hits, 50 white, 34 black, 24 silver, 21 grey - that's almost 80% of 991's out there ie colours to avoid. You can either go with the flow by choosing one of the popular colours or something a bit different like guards red. Personally I don't understand the European love affair with blacks & silvers (white is the new black!) if I am blowing over £100k on a car I want it to be a bit different to what's out there & I also think resale would be a little better on a "nice" but more limited colour. You will also do the community a service by brightening up the dull UK roads & overcast skies.

Go guards red & also avoid black interior, yes I know it works with black but again be a little more daring.

Well after much debate, I've decided to order in black and have it wrapped carmine red at a cost of £1500 inc inside doors and sills etc

Saves me the cost of £2800 paint, £450 painted side skirts and £1200 having the car stone chip protection wrapped

Total saving of circa £3k, and if I get bored I can go black again - seems the logical thing to do, especially as porchse are now saying to add 12 weeks wait on for the C-Red paint job.

The guy uses premium wraps and does a great job, hopefully all will be well!

He means using a colored 'vinyl' wrap on his 991...rather than ordering PTS!

This is where a skilled wrapping company pays dividend! The company I am set to use have come highly recommended by the Supercar owners club I am a member of

I've seen MANY high end cars wrapped. And they can not wrap things like door handles, mirrors, and certain wings (993 Turbo wings for example). Good luck, please post pictures when completed.

Ah yeah - its a US thing, have seen it in pics & movies over the years but being in Europe I never seen it done in the flesh. Personally I think its a bit of a kill joy to cover up a Porsche in such way, its like covering up Bar Rafaeli in Abaya!!!

No, Mondrian, it's not just a US thing! The first wrap I ever saw was in London on a BMW and it's a big deal in ROW too. By the way, Bar Refaeli would look good wrapped in anything...including an Abaya! It would let the imagination wonder.
