Ongoing change over valve issues on 991
#61
Just had all of them replaced by PNA. Had 1 go in January, another in February. Drove into Atlanta in April and had another go. Replaced by Ellis and another 100 miles later. Called PNA and they agreed to replace all of them. Took the dealer 2 full days for the work. All 4 times I got the CS fault. All replaced under warranty. By the way, I was told there are 11 on the car. PSE, MT

Do you have the number you called for PNA? I'd like to attempt this approach. Mine were all done under recall in 2013 and now I'm out of warranty but having COV probs. I'd like to think Porsche would honor the replacement needing replacement less than four years later.

I personally had two change-over-valves fail on my 2012 C2 991.
The first was related to the HVAC. I got no heat at all.
The second was related to the Sound Symposer. It wasn't opening up when I pressed the Sport button.
Both times replaced under warranty. But neither one triggered a warning message for me to see.
In face I didn't even realize my Sound Symposer wasn't functioning until I had the car in for something unrelated and they caught it.
Pissses me off that there are still a bunch more of these that could fail at anytime in or out of warranty. Including the ones there were replaced.

Also, my 2012.5 had new changeover valves installed in 2013. I mentioned the "F" batch to my SA and he acted like he didn't know what I was talking about. Any tips on how to get them to change into the new batch as preventative, before the warranty runs out?

Has anyone heard of 991.1 GTS having this same issue - as I have just got a 2000km one and noted that at times seems the PSE or Sound symposer not engaged when putting on sports mode ( intermittent issue and seems to solve itself after driving for a while though I usually flick the sports mode button a few times also ) ... The other possible is that I have a after market device wired in which has affected the sports chrono clock ) .
Thank you
Thank you

For giggles, my heater is out again. COV replaced a little over 5000 miles and a year ago.... I guess there must be a newer better version....
Also kinda funny the heater one died twice but the most important one (coolant) is still fine... Related to the location in the engine maybe ?

I am AMAZED that how many model years later we are still talking about COVs??? Sheesh, Porsche, FIX THE DARN THINGS ALREADY!
So sorry to hear that failures keep happening to people. Hope they get fixed quickly and on Porsche's dime.

They are supplier parts. Car designer provides the parameters for operation. They do not design the details. Supplier does that.

Mine too. 2013 C4S 44K. No heat. Tech indicated COV failure wouldn't throw codes in some instances (most) and must be tested individually. He went on to deny these are a recurring issue.

Thanks to everyone who added to this tread.
I have two questions that I could not find an answer for.
First, why would a COV failure of the PSE (or any other not coolant related COVs) trigger a coolant error?
The second and more important questions is, what is the cooling system bypass circuit? Also, will a malfunction of the COV operating the valve for this coolant circuit cause the engine to overheat?
I appreciate any input.
