To a57356 and psamead:

As soon as you both get deliveries of your respective 991 Targas, please confirm what model year they gave you - MY2015 or MY2014. I have heard from dealer sources that all May 991 Targa production is indeed MY2014, including the 'Launch Edition' 991 Targas scheduled to be at US dealers for the official June 28th 'market release' festivities. Those 991 Targas that go into production starting in June at Zuffenhausen, according to my source, will be categorized as MY2015's.

If this turns out to be true, this is all a rather odd production scheduling since a few weeks will separate MY2014 Targas from their identical MY2015 brothers...except for the obvious issue of yearly depreciation at future re-sale.

Saludos,
Eduardo

Porsche should do the right thing for early Targa buyers ...title them all as Model Year 2015 s, whether built in May or June since there is about an additional $ 10K delta per model year on depreciation and imagine two buyers taking possesion on identical Targas the same day late next month , or even the " 2015" driving off the lot a day before the "2014", the slight expected increased model year MSRP differences included !

Just got my VIN, the 10th character is an "E" which means it is a model year 2014.
My car has been in production for more than two weeks and counting due to the supply issues with the rear window.
This means there will be very few 2014 Targas made if production of the 2015 starts next week.

Well my dealer is not at all sure about the delivery to me. They think that even if the car gets to RI on 6/6 it may be held there until shortly before the June 28 release but they have no info on the market release.

I too have an "E" in the vin and the build sheet clearly indicates a MY 2014.

Maybe those of us getting the first few will have MORE valuable cars. My build sheet now includes an option # 762 PCNA Display Vehicle. That should make it much more valuable! LOL

Also, the Macans are being held at the port in RI for a while to make sure there are not QC issues from the ones that apparently have been delivered in Europe. They think the same may be true for the Targas.

More as I hear.

I'm watching this thread too for any updates from the folks with early orders. My racing yellow 4S is not scheduled for delivery until July/August.

I think the new Targa is the best looking 911 in a long while. I still own a 993TT but looking forward to this Targa.

Latest update,

Vehicle entered the body shop (V260) on 05/08/2014
As of 05/30/2014 it was still being shown as V260, making it 22 days in production ......

I think my delivery date may get bumped a little

My Targa 4S has finally exited production 26 days after first entering the body shop which is almost 3 weeks longer than normal. My scheduled delivery has been pushed 10 days, but the time crossing the Atlantic to Davisville is shown as 21 days which is a little long so there is still hope for the first week in July. Keeping fingers crossed.

Default Its Here!

Mine arrived at Dealer last Friday along with their launch car. Didn't see launch car but they got Black.

I was there to see it Saturday with my 73 targa and the dealer took a similar shot to post on their website.

Won't get my car until 6/23 as they need this week for normal arrival activity and adding plastic protection. I leave Fri for the Porsche Parade so they won't have it done anyway.

May not actually get it until the national launch date I think is 6/26 but will have it then for sure.

Here it is! (think the new ones are big???)

Congratulations! It looks terrific. Perhaps we will see you here in Monterey during the Parade.

Really nice. Would have liked to see 20" Fuchs under your new targa in that pic to match the cars for a memorable picture, perhaps dealer has a 50th in stock and is willing to loan wheels for a picture for his, yours and my picture collection.

I do like your wheel choice though, best set for the new Targa.

Default Wheels

thanks for wheel comments. After learning my lesson with a Cayman about wheels that look great but take more time to clean than the rest of the car, these Classic wheels look great and should be easy and fast to clear!
