Default How wide can you go on Rear rim width??

I might buy rims for my 991 Carrera S. I was told the max width is 11 (the car is not lowered).

Does anyone know what the max width would be with causing any mechanical or visual issues?

Depends on what you consider visual issues

You can use This calculator to help you determine the offsets and extra width inside and out

Big mistake. Buy the whole wheel. You won't regret it.

Back handed slap of information.
But it was funny, it made me laugh. I shouldn't have laughed, but I did.

I'm pretty sure the Sport Techno wheel is 11" in the rear.

Sport Techno for a Carrera S is 11.5 in the rear and 9 in the front.

Well anyone asking how wide instead of how good (or even how good looking) seems to me to be on the wrong track. Aside from cosmetics- which who knows what people like- the only wheels I know of that would be worth changing to are Koenigsegg's all carbon fiber wheels. http://jalopnik.com/koenigseggs-all-...ou-c-479752308

I suspect the balance he's going for will require installing a bimmer motor in the frunk.

Chuck I sincerely admire your wisdom and advice regarding racing and Porsches overall, but putting aftermarket wheels on a Porsche is not a new or outlandish concept. I simply was asking the good people of Rennlist if putting a 11.5 or 12 inch rear wheel would cause any issues in regards to rubbing or anything else...Or if it would stick out and look stupid.

You have to consider the wheel offset as well as wheel width (11.5 or 12). If you take those two into consideration you should be fine.

Try to be nice, let's not turn into the other forum here

On a more serious note, in some countries/regions, rim means the wheel, i.e. wheel + tire == rim + tire.

Cheers.

i've had a bit of trouble finding track wheels for a 991 c2s, this is helpful information, 19's in this size would probably fit?

Well your original question was how wide can you go? Sport Techno's are 9 & 11.5x20 and look great. But can you fit wider? Of course. The question is, why? And why ask only about the rear?

Odds are you're going for looks. But here's the thing about appearances. There's the reaction of the average guy who knows nothing and assumes lower/wider=faster/better. So you stuff as much as you can in there that guy is impressed. Then there's the guy who knows Porsches. I'm talking about the DI who the first time he saw my car after corner-balancing said Hey you got your car set up- looks great! Now I know for a fact the measurements changed at most a few mm but this guy spotted it immediately and knew.

Which one are you going for?
