IMO..... Measurable gains from stock "tuned" NA Porsche engines = snake oil!

So the "Sport Steering" option is just an ECU mapping?

Yes. If you follow along, Chris Harris states in his GT3 review that even the GT3 steering is all mapping. All the parts are the same. No not suspension, and that stuff definitely matters. But all the steering mechanism. Only the mapping is different.

While that is what Chris Harris stated in his first 991 GT3 video subsequent publications have noted that the attachment of the steering rack to the chassis has changed.

Also of note, and as you mentioned, many of the suspension arms and bushings are different, stiffer which affects the frequencies transmitted to the electric steering system and subsequently the steering wheel.

While the GT3 has a different steering map, it would be a stretch to say downloading that map to a standard 991 would impart the same feel.
