Default Do they? When?

Ok. They are on the configurator. Do they get rid of the buffetting in coupes when the windows are down? When are the sport mirrors gonna show up at Suncoast?

We're working on kits now, not sure of the official release, but they are coming. There will be kits to cover all of the diffferent mirror options. I'm guessing they will be available by Winter, they're so new that parts aren't available yet. Stay tuned, this will be an interesting upgrade.

Sweet, we got the "When?"(ish).

Don't think there is a confirmed answer yet to the "Do they?" part?

Whether these reduce buffeting at high speed with windows down:

I'm hopeful, but not optimistic. Not sure a side mirror design can change the aerodynamics enough to defuse the buffeting with windows down. Hope I'm wrong.

Mirrors can definitely make a difference. Look at a 3 series E46-they have a tiny texture on the mirrors (looks like little bumps) that reduce wind noise at highway speeds. So a whole mirror change should be able to do something.

They are on the Turbo S. But I guess as they pass through the sound barrier the buffeting transient is so instant no none notices. And on the GT3 no one can hear anything above 8000 anyway.

Will there be an option for those of us with folding mirrors? Don't want to loose that option.

I agree. Wind noise can be reduced. The challenge in buffeting is the air pressure differences inside versus out when windows are down. Time will tell.

Question

Isn't the problem caused by the air flow between the mirror and the open window - something the window frame mounted mirrors prevented/deflected (as do those aftermarket defector devices)? I don't see how this new stem design changes that...

@chuckbdc & @fbroen: I would be interested in seeing how this plays out but do you gentlemen have this problem with the windows down AND the sunroof open ? (assuming you have sunroofs). I noticed some buffetting with only the windows down once, but the problem was gone with the sunroof open. I rarely open the windows, but when I do, the sunroof is also open so it has not been a real problem.

It is only a problem if one has a coupe and wants to keep both windows down and drive above about 65. The buffetting that I get is quite bad when one window is fully open and one is fully closed, or when both are fully down.

It is somewhat alleviated by partially opening another window and fully alleviated by popping up the sunroof in the back. It is also not a problem if you keep the windows part way or all the way up.

Many who run track events complain about it if they are required to have windows all the way down and keep the sunroof closed.
