Porsche Purchase Dilemma
I can only imagine the comments this post will get, but I still proceed given there are helpful people here.
I really want a Porsche 991. I wanted one last year but opted instead for a 2013 Panamera Turbo because it was more practical and they had one on the lot that I absolutely loved (Basalt Black + Cognac + Olive Wood).
Have loved the car. Still longed for a sportier, naturally aspirated Porsche. A friend gave me the idea I should buy a Boxster, so I ended up buying a slightly used 2011 Porsche Boxster Spyder. Fun, sporty, convertible, etc. I can take it on the track and drive it in the AM (before the afternoon Dallas heat).
The thing is, I still long for the 991. I love the body style. So then I thought about going the Porsche GT3 route. But I really can't keep three cars. Seeing as that I can barely fit my two cars + the wife's car, four total is out of the question. If it were, then I would consider keeping the Panny and the Spyder and buying a GT3.
And while the GT3 is awesome and looks to be getting rave reviews, it has limited use because it only has two seats (I have two young girls who love cars). So then I come back to the idea of a loaded 991 S. But I can only keep two cars (I thought about having the wife drive the Panamera, but it is a four seater, so that doesn't work with shuffling kids around).
The Panny is a lease (first time lease ever). I could buy it out and then trade it in and likely have at least 10K to use towards the 991. Or I could keep the Panny and trade in the Spyder. I love having a four door car and I enjoy the uniqueness/convertible of the Spyder. So whatever I do, there is a compromise. The Spyder looks fabulous (white with black leather) and I feel like it will be a classic in the long run. It has that Carrera GT look to it. And it only a 60K car which feels less "extravagant" as a second car.
Anyone have any wise words of advice around what I should get rid of? Panamera or Spyder? If I go the GT3 route, it has to be the Spyder because I need a car that can hold the kids. If I go the 991 C2S route, I can keep either one because I still have room for the kids.
Please don't judge me - cars are my pleasure item. In fact, I never owned two cars until I bought my first Porsche which seemed to just open Pandora's box.
991? GT3? Goodbye to the Panny? Adios Spyder? My wife laughed at first and rolled her eyes, but eventually she agreed, "That is a tough call"...
Thanks in advance for your suggestions!

Life is too short. if you've always wanted a 991 and you have the means to get one without ending up in the poor house, then go for it.

Push the Panamera into Louisville Lake.
Get a 991. Either one, C2S is probably the correct call. The money you save vs. the GT3 can go towards paying your speeding tickets.

It cost me big-time to correct my first color choice (I traded a black 2013 991-2S for a white 2013 991-2S).
Best of luck to you.

As a former owner of a Spyder and now a 991S owner. KEEP the Spyder, sell the Panny, and get a 991S with the powerkit, and 7MT and you've got a family GT3-lite with manual.
There are many replacement options for a Panamera, there are very few replacements for a Spyder. Spyder is an instant classic IMO.

Agee with this; however I am biased because I have both Pan GTS and 991. They are so different from one another, I love the PGTS bc it is comfortable, has space for errands and kids. 991 is for fun. Plus personally, if driving somewhere more then 30 minutes away the 991 gets alittle annoying from a comfort standpoint; in Panamera that's never an issue. Good luck!
