European Delivery Tomorrow
#62
Depends on your dealer. Your dealer processes the registration of your car once it arrives stateside. When they do that, the excess (VAT / sales tax difference) will be refunded to you by your dealer. Mine was supposed to take a few days, but took a week.

My dealer told me that there was a charge for European Delivery of $3000. Is that true? Somehow....I don't think it is....

European Delivery is currently no charge program to the Porsche end customer. However, PAG via PCNA will charge the dealer an amount (approx. US$3000) for the service. But the dealer gets an extra Porsche allocation. Depending on your purchase deal with your Porsche retailer, this $3000 charge is either absorbed by them or passed on to you. If you are buying at invoice plus small margin, you will probably pay for it. If you are buying at MSRP with a minimum discount, it will probably be absorbed by the dealer.

I was traveling when my car departed Germany, so I received my VAT check when I picked up my car at the dealer. Had I been home I believe I could have received it as soon as I presented proof the car departed Europe for the USA.

If it's a $0 option than the you shouldn't be paying anything. It seems very, very strange for Porsche to say "We won't charge you for this option but your dealer might." Of course the dealer will charge you. So it's not a $0 option.

Re: Euro Delivery - I am leaving in a few days to pick up my 911_50. When you drop off your car at Stuttgart I believe Porsche does not wash/detail it, before shipping, and they do not put any wrap/protection on it, correct?
Is there a facility to wash/detail the car at the factory, or nearby?
Thanks!
