991S Not Starting
#61
Alg1367 the thread starter says in post # 11 that his car is a stick. ?
At least that what it looks like when kosmo asked him.? Maybe I'm wrong.
Anyway, I talked to a guy I know who works in Stuttgart and says it's a known manual trans fix they are working on. He wasn't more specific since we were only chatting on what's app.

Hmm... I don't know. He said in post #1 it's a PDK, and he had to put it in park to re-start.

Since the issue has been confirmed by Porsche engineering in Germany. I would inquire as to whether a perminant solution has been implimented via refabricated block (bracket) holding the sensor. Waiting for failure and then installing a spacer is neither cost concious nor ethical at this point.
Best, Bret.

Although my no start problem hasn't reappeared in over two months, I'd really like to see a repair campaign/recall to address the issue.
It's still somewhat odd to me that even with the auto start/stop feature disabled, a stalled engine will automatically restart as soon as the clutch pedal is depressed. Evidently, the start function of the auto start/stop system remains active.

Mike seems to be a good egg. We put a couple of hundred miles on it over the weekend without a hitch. Will keep you posted.
Best, Bret.

Yes, I have been speaking to Mike for a few weeks on this issue. The stall over the weekend was the last straw for me.

Just got the car back from Conshy Porsche. They replaced the cam sensor and added the spacer sent by PAG. Hope it works. Had an Audi A8 loaner, other choices were a Panny or a new Cayman.

Thanks alg1367.
I was pretty sure you said a stick.
Please keep us updated. It seems since it's a MT known issue PNA should be3 able to get a solid, definitive fix for the issue.
Good luck!
