Great decision that adds so much to driving the car. It really is worth it on the 991.

Default PSE

Had my car barely a week now & am so happy I have it. You will not believe what a different character your car will have. I seem to turn it on at least 50% of the time so far! Fun!

Do they do it in a day? I inquired and they said 2-3 days. Could be they haven't done it before.

It will be the 1st button you reach for every time you start your car, enjoy.

Make certain you keep your old mufflers, just sold my original mufflers (3500 miles on them) for $400 for the pair on eBay.

Can someone please figure out how to make it default to "On" everytime you turn on the ignition? It certainly is the first button i reach everytime and it would be nice to just being able to leave on all the time

Does it have to be via a dealer or can it be done
by a third party?

As it happens I had PSE installed yesterday- as a one year birthday present for the car. It was done in a day (dropped off the car the night before).

I would tell you that I am sorry that I did not have it installed when I picked up the car, but actually, it is sort of like getting a new one. The chrome tips look just enough different to continue the illusion. The sound with it "off" is a bit different too- a little deeper but relatively unobtrusive. The sound with the button pushed is just right for my taste- not obnoxious, but a couple of octaves deeper at mid range and "mellow" as it goes up the revs scale. It is not the junior F1 wail of my old Boxter S PSE, but a more mellow round growl, if that makes any sense. Overrun popping is like crack, totally addictive. I spent a while terrorizing corners under steep multigear downshifting deceleration last night. I will go out an haunt my collection of tunnels and wide underpasses tonight.

Did I mention I like it?

I thought that with the 997 you could remove a fuse and PSE would always be on. The downside was that the exhaust valve is never used and it could become "stuck" after a while of non-use. Not sure if the same can be done for the 991, or if I'm even remembering this correctly

To the OP - Congrats

I heard $2500, but those that have had it done will correct me. This is RL isn't it!

That's how it worked with my last ZO6 (pull the 10-amp fuse and you were good to go).

Total parts and installation at Porsche dealer will be $3500- $4000. $1,000 of that is labor. If you are PCA member you may get 10-15% discount. I paid about $3600 in December for PSE on my 2011 CAB. After selling the mufflers, I am down to $3200 and if I can sell the original OEM Tips, I will have my final cost below $3000 installed.
