I'm curious why so many seems to prefer no sunroof? Are you tracking your cars? What am I missing?

I've never liked them. They don't open wide enough (other than Targa or a panoramic roof) to feel like a convertible, they rob headroom and add weight.

I'm glad they're optional now.

Another reason for no sunroof is that the new design is just plain ugly when it's open. Why pay $1500 for something you're not using and detracts from the otherwise beautiful lines of the car.

The flickering light from a sunroof gives me a headache, also one less thing to break. I also agree it's not really attractive when open.

However, getting the sunroom in glass gives the car a great look. A white or yellow car with that black top looks great (yellow 991 on eBay with that roof and I think it looks incredible). F charges you $15k for a black deviated top. So even if I were never to open it, with certain exterior colors I would choose it because I think the look is great. Obviously personal preference.

No more headroom issue. It opens up and back ouside the roofline. Also it is wider. Now its just ugly, but on the other hand is not visible to the driver when driving, so I don't much care.

I use mine a lot, mostly popped up in the back for more quiet ventiation than opening the side windows (especially since the new 991mirrors create a disturbing harmonic when down at speeds above about 50). The new GT3 mirrors may be needed!!!

I drove home my new S last night and loved the moonlight view.
However, my car is white & to me it looks smoking hot with the black glass contrasting roof.

The sunroof adds weight in one of the worst places it could possibly be. It adds parts some people (like me) simply do not need. It breaks up the beautiful lines of one of the otherwise most pleasingly evolved designs ever to grace the automotive world. It increases maintenance by giving you a seam you now need to watch out for every time you clay, polish or wax. And of course it costs money. Which is fine for those who value it enough to order it, but for those who do not its even better that we no longer have to subsidize the ones who do like we did back when it was a standard, non-deletable feature.

Now if they would only find a way to let us delete the satellite wart from the cars with Bose or Burmester....

Can anyone show us a picture of the "satellite wart"? Being in Australia with no Satellite radio I have no idea how bad this much hated thing looks!

I ordered the car today. Basalt Black Metallic, C2S, Power Kit, Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC) with PASM sport suspension, no sunroof, platinum wheel finish.

My first water cooled Porsche.

They are all over the place. Look at the posts by limey and nicoli on the first page of this thread. They put it on every car with Bose or Burmester regardless of whether you have or want XM. Would sure be nice to be able to delete the wart AND the archaic 6-cd changer. If you want better pics check out the Yellow Tag meets Windshield thread.
