well said! in fact the cable is probably the cheapest part, doing the R&D to develop the s/w that in fact is the heart/brain of the solution.

What happened to the days of pushing the odometer button and turning the ignition. Greedy dealers.

Find a couple of 991's in your area and share the cost. IIRC good for three cars. T

Dialing in software to force owners into the dealer is down right extortion in the highest degree.

Went in for state inspection and asked the dealer to reset the oil service light. They said they could not do it - they would only reset if they did the work. What the . . . . Looks like its time to buy something.

This kit works on the 991 for oil service reset, and other systems like engine, ABS, arbags etc

Looks similar to the Chinese version.

I zapped icarsoft a note for more info on their device comparing it to their multi-car (including Porsche) for future car purchases.

I know quite about about diagnostics.

ICarsoft is owned by launch, and although you might get emails appearing to be from the USA, and the HQ is supposedly in the USA, trust me this is not the case. They just rent an office in Washington.

All correspondence is dealt with in Hong Kong & China. Which is not really a problem as they are pretty good and fluent in English and are able to understand issues if they crop up.

I have all of the relevant data sheets for the iCarsoft products if you require anything just pm me your email address.

Diagnostic World is my business ran from the UK (where I am from) so we have used the iCarsoft products on a lot of cars.

We sell a good number of iCarsoft products to Porsche owners but they tend to work best on 997, 987, 991 - 911's, boxster, Cayman, cayenne.

A bit troublesome with 996's.

So I wound up buying the iCarSoft model PORII. Got it in 2 days. Just cleared the Oil Reset, took about 20 seconds.

Good.

Do you get OK communication with the engine, ABS and SRS airbag modules? Might be down as POSIP in the menu.
