As you know, Porsche doesn't offer an extended warranty directly to a customer. Only dealers can add a CPO warranty on a 'used' car and they have to have ownership to do so! So you are left with warranties offered by 'third' parties. As others have said, it will be honored at most dealers and independent shops. They don't care who pays as long as someone settles with them at the end. But not all of these warranties are created equal, so read up on the subject and choose wisely.

thanks everyone for the great experiences! looks like it generally worked out well in the end for both the consumer and dealers. i have a lot more confidence in my situation now. much appreciated! if anyone else has more accounts, please don't hesitate to post...

Certain items that we think of as warranty (rattles are an example) are actually funded by the dealer out of his profit on the car. This type of item might be difficult to get at a second dealer. Warranty and regular service is no issue as all dealers want the service revenue/profit.

If it was Carousel, IMO they are a great dealership.
The Land Rover dealer right next to them however, not so much. AS much as I want to I am not buying another Range Rover based solely on their behavior at the time of sale, and their lack of competency at repair work. I won't even buy one at another dealer because I would have only the local dealer for warranty work and they are horrible.

Hi Steve. Sent you a PM.
Yes Carousel took care of me fine even though I had no luck buying a car from them in 1999, but that is a long story. They were completely different last year and I bought my new S Cab from them. Maplewood also gave me great service on my 99. My new car has had zero problems so I have not been to the service dept. I will need rear tires soon.
