Default Where are all the PTS 991s?

Not sure I have seen any yet...let's see some pics. I am unexcited by the factory colors thus far.

Good idea, and good luck finding many. Probably somebody will post something eventually. They are out there, but not many. This great thread https://rennlist.com/forums/991/7085...e-and-you.html has a list of all the approved PTS colors. With color names you can surf for photos. There is also this cool video https://rennlist.com/forums/991/7331...n-a-991-a.html which projects a whole bunch of awesome colors. Go slo-mo or even frame by frame, there are some really awesome colors in there. But you will definitely want to read Z356's custom order thread to understand everything you're getting into with PTS.

That's an excellent thread and one that I've subscribed to (albeit it sounds like no more updates will be forthcoming).

Personally I am not in the market for a PTS 991 at least not at the moment. No doubt at some point I will want one to augment the RS which sees mostly track duty. Of the variants out today I am inclined towards a base car which is conventionally sprung. Of those in the pipeline clearly the Turbo will be interesting and I loved by 997 Turbo as a GT/DD. The Targa looks very interesting and in an old-skool color combination could be really neat. I am personally skeptical about the new GT3 and RS and suspect that they won't be more interesting than my 3.8L car. Faster yes but more charismatic, I doubt it.

Default Etna Blue PTS

I just took delivery on this Etna Blue 991. It's a standard color from the 1960/1961 356s. Interior is espresso.

First of all, Red Route 1, that is one of the most impressive looking colors on a 991 I have seen to date! Congratulations.

Brownan: Hoping someone else will pick up the torch and carry it forward! This topic needs further discussing. I am still in awe of my old 'Signal Green' 997 - it was just a pleasure to cast my eyes on it for the short period of time I had it! As I am sure Red Route 1 will attest to, there is something very special and exciting about creating a unique order automobile, especially on one like the 911 where the shape will accentuate the tints and hues!

Saludos,
Eduardo

RedRoute1 - congrats, I agree, that's a great looking and unique 991...certainly the most interesting one I have seen thus far. Hoping to see more as other people choose PTS. Personally I missed the limited window for PTS when I ordered by RS but would like likely tried Exclusive to go long with Aventurine Green which is a favorite of mine.

RedRoute1, that is a very interesting hue, hope to see it in person at a PCA event of Cars and Coffee someday.

that Etna blue is stunning - reminds me of a blue BMW also used a lot in the later 70's.

i am pretty sure i have a pic of a nice 356 in that colour

Default The English name of the color is 'Aetna Blue'!

By the way, as I pointed out to 'Porsche Exclusive' many months ago, the correct spelling of this beautiful color in English was & is 'Aetna Blue'. It was originally first used by Porsche in MY1960 & MY1961 in the 356 models. The German name is 'Etna Blau'. The color was also allowed by PAG to be ordered on at least one PTS 997 that resides here in California.

Eduardo

Thanks for all of the positive comments. Eduardo, those pictures where what convinced me of the color. It would be great to collect pictures of the paints on the PTS approved list to help other buyers.

Red Route 1: You are right. There are so many things that 'Porsche Exclusive' could do to promote and/or help educate their potential customers on this service. And these forums are the perfect vehicle to disseminate this type of information. I gave it a shot...but it didn't get far enough!

that above etna blue is great, i saw the 997.2 one and always wanted that color.

i had originally ordered a mexico blue 991 with black interior, manual trans and etc.. BUT the dealer came back wanting a VERY large deposit instead of their usual 5k deposit.. so i passed.. i generally pay for the vehicle in full before it arrives, but still dont like the idea of tens of thousands of dollars in someone elses hands for 5-6months (90 day delay generally for PTS)...

i told them, not like i am going to back out of the deal.. i have ordered tons of cars.. but just dont like the overall idea... especially if something came wrong/etc....

Thanks rijowysock. I have a long relationship with my dealer but otherwise they do ask for $10K upfront on these special orders. I don't think Etna is a difficult color to sell if they got stiffed but I understand the need to hedge. I agree more than that is too much especially given the wait.
