Default GT3, november!!!??

dealer told me may 2014 for macan and november 2013 for GT3!

these release dates are killing me, also why is Macan so expensive? why wouldn't one get a full cayenne for 7k more versus mini cayenne?

regardless of the macan, anyone else excited for the GT3 but upset about the wait time? i was thinking march 2013, not november!

Upset or not, sounds about right to me. Its about what my dealer was telling me two years ago, before the 991 even came out. Probably won't be a GTS type variant out until 2015. Or '16. For consolation, they're able to get away with this only by virtue of being the best performance car manufacturer on the planet.

That's the only way Porsche can continue changing a generation every 7 years. Look at other manufacturers, they've started coming out with a ' refresh ' every year,it's getting ridiculous!
If Porsche would come out with all models within a year or two, then what'll be left for the next 5-6?

The word for some time has been that the 991 GT3 would be introduced at the Geneva auto show in March 2013 but the car wouldn't be available for delivery until later in the year. November sounds about right. I'm waiting too. Patience, Riley....

Thanks for the info -- that timeframe is a recurring pattern for Porsche. Five years between major GT3 changes, rolling out a niche sports car *** track toy in the dead of winter for the USA market. Purely Porsche marketing genius at work -- I think they must come from a women's fashion background. : )

As for the Macan, it's already receiving yawner reviews in the form of Audi and VW models, I fail to see how Porsche can do anything but dump their brand-stamped version to urban housewives with Schnitzers, Poodles and Chiguagua's in their laps as they drive around affluent shopping malls, wondering if their next mini-SUV should be the Range Rover Evoque.

When we all leave on the colonization space ship to flee Mother Earth as she falls into environmental collapse, we'll be sure to have a very special ship to carry all the hairdressers and divorce attorneys separately ...

Any details on the macan as far as I there will be a V8? Could make for a fun little truck.

Knowing Porsche, I predict Macan will come with base, S, GTS, Turbo, Turbo S eventually. All models range will be just slightly cheaper than the Cayenne equivalent. Why is it so expensive? Because Porsche can sell every one of them. As for seeing housewives driving them around, what's wrong with that, women need to drive too. I plan to get one for my daughter.

As for 991GT3, I have no interest at all. I already have my keeper GT3RS.

While I would be all over a fun little Porsche SUV, I would not expect to see a V8 Macan. It is Q5 based, so I would bet on 4- and 6-cylinder forced induction engines powered by gas and diesel, along with a hybrid, with a nominal amount of power over the Audi versions (just as with the Touareg/Cayenne).

I had a Q5 for a week. Practical, comfortable, nice, boring. These are little trucks with car class suspensions, high perch leather seats and high margins folks. I expect the same from Macan, at a small premium.

+1. There is a market demand for a smaller size SUV regardless of absolute cost. My bet is that even if the starting price were identical, they would sell a ton of them. Also, I wish some sports car enthusiasts were not so dismissive of others automobile choices.

I guess so or they may do with it what they've done with boxter/cayman so far...base/S and perhaps more sportier versions (like gts or rs) later
