Thanks for the info..Price hike is also what I heard directly from the manufacturer.
"Closest thing to a cup car"..in what sense? I suppose a 918, GT2RS will be closer to a cup car..

His data are usually facts, not guesswork.
The $137K is a tad high, though it suggests wide body and PDK with things like PCM/Nav standard.
On the bright side, it will be smoking quick compared to even an RS 3.8, but at what price of technology taking the driver's seat?
Perhaps if you can nav/pcm delete and pdk delete and robo-driver delete ... well, same old story, I think it would be a much more fun track toy with "all" delete, 500hp, 9000 rpm, 6spd, with switchable SC/TC from the 997.2 RS ...
But with Carrera 4 pricing, no real surprise Porsche marketing is wide of the mark thinking the economy circa 2014 is anywhere near as affluent as it was circa 2004 when the prospect of a $99K hot rod track toy was brilliant (and wildly successful.)
If they bring the GT3 to market with the same electric steering feel, it will be all the advertisers ... I mean, "journalists" ... will be able to do to keep themselves from mocking Porsche for their "has no clothes" behavior.

Can't wait to see the 991 GT3. The new 991 has a big price jump over the last generation, so I am not surprised to see a big hike on the MSRP. I guess 150K will be the average price for a GT3.
