And here is another customer order. This car is a PTS, which we just managed to sqeek in before the deadline, in Oryx White Metallic, which is a Pearlescent colour for which Porsche is charging $12,600 (though the build sheet lists the regular PTS charge of $6,300).

So the car is Pearl White Metallic with a Black interior, all the extra leather pieces, and Pebble Grey Contrast Stitch. It will be gorgeous for sure. The owner plans on breaking the car in by taking a 8,000km road trip!

As with the other special cars that we have ordered, I will be sure to post photos when they arrive.

Cheers,
Lawrence

Porsche doubled the price because the PTS request was last minute for a 2014 build? Please post photos of this car when possible. I seem to remember seeing photos of an oryx white metallic 991 TTS that I believe was presented at the Frankfurt show. Although some have described the geyser grey metallic of the 911_50 as pearlescent, I believe this description is more accurately assigned to oryx. Oryx is indeed a pearly white, whereas geyser grey is more of a cream. Those are some nice builds ... thanks for sharing.

As I read it (and based on my memory of previous comments made by Suzy991) the specific color, Oryx White Metallic, is simply twice as expensive. So, unrelated to the order date.

Yes, that's exactly how it is indeed, they just doubled the price. It's absolutely a beautiful color, but IMO just way too expensive. VW paints a Beetle in the exact same color for 1/10th of the price and with the same quality.

Here are the pictures of the Frankfurt motorshow:

I see. Any idea why Porsche charges double for this particular color? Are there other PTS colors that cost double?

The $12,600 for the Oryx White Pearl Effect was a sticking point with the order, and I did query Porsche Exclusive about it. I was told that the process took a number of additional days of prep and was a 'difficult painting process' for the 991, hence the additional cost. We got past it pretty quickly and ordered the car. Some of the pearl or satin paints at Ferrari or Bentley cost $30k or more, so it isn't so bad.

For what it is worth, I think that the premiums charged for PTS and Exclusive options probably don't even cover the true costs of the incremental production complexity. If Porsche was solely interested in maximizing profits, they would be simplifying the production process, and try to make all the cars the same.

Anyway, the colour looks amazing, can't wait to see the car.

They need to completely clean the paint tanks, guns and perhaps barrels, and maybe for metallic white needed to clean twice

We don't have to go to Ferrari or Bentley to see expensive paint options. PAG charges $63,000 for its special 'Liquid Metal Silver' & 'Liquid Metal Chrome Blue' on the 918 Spyder. For these two unique color choices, special magnets orient the metallic particles in the liquid paint in certain ways as it's applied to the body at the paint booth! Talk about complexity & difficulty....

You are right to say that premiums charged for some 'Porsche Exclusive' options don't cover true additional costs. I'll post soon on this specific subject at this thread.

While not a 991, I hope these photos of a couple Cayenne GTS, showing some interior trim items (air vent slats painted, PCM painted) aren't inappropriate for this forum. I really like painted interior pieces, especially in montone interiors.

We just received our Panamera E-Hybrid in a similar colour scheme and I will post photos of that shortly. Also we have a Peridot Green GTS with painted interior trim and PCCB's coming... Should be awsome.

^ The interior looks like a murder scene. CSI should have no issues incriminating the person who made these selections with all that blood spilled.

Well I ordered those cars Also we have a Peridot Green GTS with body coloured interior pieces similar to these GTS, with PCCB's and $150k MSRP - I've seen a similar Cayenne in Germany, and it looks awesome.

These cars sell up here to us reserved Canadians, we are bored with black interiors!
