Default My Front Plate Install

Well, it happened again. Another "No front license display" ticket. Less than a month after purchase and while still carrying the temporary 30 day tag (in my trunk). So I went ahead and bit the bullet.
No drilling on painted surfaces.
Here are the parts I used:
2 each angle brackets
2 each bolts with nuts/washers
2 each plate screws

I attached the angles to a plastic piece that protects the bumper. This is an unpainted black plastic "lip". This black plastic "lip" appears to be solid plastic. I initially intended to use an insert and a screw but ended up not using the insert at all and just used the screw.

Disclaimer: No painted surfaces were abused, damaged or touched!

Nice! Good job!
I had the dealer drill holes in my 996TT and I know I'm going to regret it at some point, but they've assured me I can get plastic round clips color matched to fill them if I ever wanted to...still better no holes.

What does it matter if there are holes if you're in a place that requires from plates anyway?

It does not matter to you (or me quite frankly: I drilled holes in the bumper of my 997). But if you do a quick search in this forum you will notice that some folks try to avoid drilling into a painted surface (see plates mounted to tow hook solution). So for those who do care about not drilling into the bumper, here is an option/solution.

Oh i hope that i wont ever have to put one on, but if i do this looks like a good solution. I will also look at the electric hideaway plates as well. Did u get pull over just for the plate or was there another more serious infraction? I got pulled over for just the missing plates before but was given a warning

I got pulled over because of the plate. The cop was waiting at a toll booth. As soon as I slowed down to pay the toll, he told me to pull over. No warning for me (he said) because according to him he saw that my record showed several tickets for the same thing in the past.

Nice job. I went for the tow hook approach for two reasons:
1) I don't care about the off-center look (any plate looks bad on the front IMO); plus,
2) I can take the plate off in an instant if I want - car washes, when I travel out of state where a front plate is not required for days at a time (which I do often enough)

Nice job and good solution. I used Skene Design with some minor mods but again, no drilling visible on the bumper. It is very similar to yours.

Also I have heard if you have front parking sensors (991) then the tow hook option places the plate over one of the sensors, is that true? Does it matter or impact the parking sensor function and display?

Nice fabrication job.

Does the 991 have the tow hook cover? That's a good solution if it does.

I can also attest the Eric's bumper plugs are a perfect match. Better not to have holes, but mine were already there an the plugs are a good solution.

On another note, Texas requires a front plate but my experience is they only enforce it if they need a reason to pull you over. Yesterday, I was sitting at a light and a cop on horse back came over (no jokes about Texas and cops on horses please). I thought he was going to say something about no front plate, but all he said was nice car and rode off.

It does so I just pop it back on or pop it out as needed...really easy.
