Default Impressive MPG from a sports car....

this is in sport mode mostly, notice average speed so was cruising 90+, not ******* it... very impressive average... i can only imagine what it would have been at speed limit with coasting enabled.

Turn in your man card right now. Posting an mpg thread on a sports car forum.. What are you thinking?

Yes my 996tt gets better gas mileage than any vehicle I own, but it's embarrassing. I don't tell anybody that.

Btw. I get 27 mpg at 75 on flatland.

During one of my two test drives of the new S I saw 30mpg...

No reason why a slippery low slung car shouldn't get 30mpg on the highway. Our Range Rover Sport gets 23 and it cuts through the air like a slightly polished brick. I thought the most interesting thing in the pic was your music selection, not a bad track.

I'm sorry but when i'm on a road trip and having fun, I enjoy not having to fill my tank up every 300 miles... the fact that our cars are good on gas is never a bad thing especially if your driving it how you want..

my lotus exige supercharged got over 30mpg on the highway, and it had an 9 gallon tank... I dont even want to think about the headache if it was a vette or something with 10mpg highway... would be an annoying drive anywhere/everywhere

yes sports cars should get good mileage by default (aerodynamic and light) but most of them do not... i.e. maserati/aston/bentley/vette/viper/any ferrari/etc...

I don't see any downsides to good mpg. After all, obsessive engineering is why I like the brand.

So the Nav does show the speed limit in the U.S, cool. I was afraid this was a euro feature only.

Hate to be a buzz kill, but Porsche has simply caught up in the mpg dept. Vettes have been getting 25+ mpg on the highway for years, and it really doesn't involve brain surgery. It simply takes an efficient powertrain, a fuel injection system that shuts off when coasting, and most importantly gearing to keep the revs down on the highway. The downside is the car isn't ready to "jump" without a downshift.
My 996TT never got over 24mpg so to do so must require being really careful with the throttle and no 80+ speeds. My first Porsche, a used 928, never got much over 20 mpg. The main reason? 3000rpm at 80mph with a V8 in top gear - but she was ready to go!

One of the many reasons I choose the 991 was mpg. I admire efficiency. Sloppy engineering to do otherwise.

I own a 991 and get good gas mileage. I haven't had a Corvette since 1996 but before that I had plenty of them. They always got 25+ mpg on the highway at slightly more than legal speed. The current model is rated 26 mpg and it can be better than that if the terrain is flat. I really never had a complaint with Corvette mileage.

If you're keeping track of mileage - you're missing the point. You can get a Prius for that.

I have to decry society's ever-decreasing ability to recognize and enjoy sarcastic banter and irony.

The mileage is fantastic! I drove up from Toronto to Mosport on the weekend, and used less than 10L of gas, and I didn't even use 7th gear. In my M3, the same drive would take well over half a tank.

Can't there be more than one point?

Drive it harder. That should go toward fixing the problem. Fuel is the cheapest thing you can put into one of these cars...
