I just ordered a kit from radar busters. The connector that allows you to piggyback of a fuse if needed or just plug into an empty one, and the direct cord connection. Im going to use the rear wiper fuse which is unused in my car and see how it goes.

cheers

Where / what side / number is the rear wiper fuse?

Just curious what kit and what detector did you go with . There is so much information out there I am not sure what to go with.

These are the parts i ordered
http://www.radarbusters.com/radar-de...ctwirecord.cfm
http://www.radarbusters.com/radar-de....cfm?RNtt=fuse

Its the larger fuse. The rear wiper is the first fuse in the bottom row. as i say in mine its empty. It should be a 15 amp if its in use.

I have a 9500ix (http://www.escortradar.com/passport9500ix-details.php) detector which i like. Whenever a discussion comes about about radar detectors its almost like a religious war with escort v valentine fans.. I like the escort because of the GPS auto functions which learns as you drive an virtually eliminates false alerts. I have the
the 9500ci (http://www.escortradar.com/passport9500ci-details.php) in my truck which we use for road trips and i love that system. At some [point i will probably upgrade to that in my 911 but right now im treading lightly with expenses related to my car to keep things good with my wife/CFO
cheers

Yes I realize the what radar detector question is a mine field. I am going back and forth between the two you mentioned. I may wait until spring to see if anything new comes out. It is getting time to put the cover on and put it away.

So far, I've been too lazy to do a hardwire install. I ran my Valentine (there goes the Holy Wars) via coiled cord from the power plug in the pasenger footwell. That will do for now, pretty unobtrusive.

I did not have a chance to look at the mirror self dimming wiring last night but the invisicord looks interesting. You are basically back probing the connector. You could think there would be a connector there for windshield replacement.

Yes it does and I have used it on several installs. Haven't done so with the 991 yet though.

If I were to buy a new one, I am not sure which one to go with so I'd say that you can't go wrong with either one of them.

I definitely like the V1 for the arrows. When it goes off, the arrows help locate the source, and it's cool to see the arrows change as the marked car goes by. The downside is even if I put it on the smart mode, it still gives more false signals than I'd like. On several times, it'd go be on non-stop for the entire 24 miles commute to work...thank god for the mute button. Since it doesn't do this often at all so I can't claim that it's broken.

The Escort is definitely quieter, and rarely gives false signals. At the same time, it's less sensitive than the V1; however, it still gives you plenty of time to reduce your speed. The downside is also when it goes off, you have no idea where the source is located. If Escort add the arrows to theirs, then my next radar would definitely be an Escort. But, for now, it's a toss up.

on detectors, i think Go Texas got it right. Folks with the valentine love the arrows, on the escort the GPS and auto learn def reduce false warnings.
I would say that after you have used the escort for a while you can generally figure out if the radar is coming from behind you or is in front of you based on signal. But you dont get that immediate indication with an arrow which must be useful.
unfortunately im pretty sure valentine patented the arrow system so we are unlikely to see it on an escort.
Im going to hardwire my escort in this weekend and will post up pics
cheers
