This is what Agate Grey 'Full Leather' interior looks like on a 991!

I'm not a big alcantera fan either, but we should be grateful that at least they didn't put it anywhere where it can wear. I suppose it's the new thing; I'm marginally ok with it as roof liner, as on my C2S, so having it on the pillars would be tolerable too, but not on seats, steering wheel, etc.
Great point about "... at least they didn't put it anywhere where it can wear." The extensive use of alcantera in the interior of the GT3 kept me from buying a GT3.

Faux Suede from the 70's!

Modern 'Alcantara' is a great leap forward from the 'faux suede' available in the 1970's! Let's see how it wears as these new Porsche 'Alcantara' steering wheels, shifters and seat inlays get used over time!
Saludos,
Eduardo

I don't know if I can ever like Alcantara. I guess it's racing inspired ?? But it just does not feel right to me on the doors lids pand the glove box as is the case on the GTS variants.

Did you see my blue faux suede shoes from the 1970's? Yes, you saw my blue shoes! I thought they looked good. You didn't like them, eh? It matches my 'Aqua Blue' Spyder.

I first remember seeing Alcantara on the seats of a Lancia Delta Integrale in the early 90s. That was an amazing car.
The benefits of Alcantara are mainly grip, temperature and (in certain cases) fire resistance.
The friction it provides keeps you in your seat a lot better than leather. It is a breathable fabric and doesn't get hot in the summer and cold in the winter like leather. I think some F1 teams use it for their driver seats mainly because of it it is fire resistant.
It is actually pretty hard wearing. As it resembles suede I think people assume it will wear like suede. It is a manmade textile and lasts a lot longer. Cleaning it is easy with soap and water.

No you're not the only one. I hate those stickers and have removed them in my 997.2. A PITA as they not regular adhesive stickers but it can be done.

Denatured alcohol. The best way to do it is to remove the visors from the car. Lay them flat and then place a cloth soaked (not dripping) with alcohol over the sticker for about 10 minutes. (If you do the mirror side, be carefull not to let alcohol get on the mirror hinges as it can dissolve the glue that holds them in place).
Now that the sticker is softened up a bit you can use a Q-tip dipped in the alcohol to "paint" the edge. As it loosens, use your fingernail to very gently peel it up as you continue to paint along the contact line between the sticker and visor. The sticker is really a super thin vinyl applique, but if you take your time and are careful you can get it off in one piece.
On the mirror side, you'll never know the stickers were there. On the other side, under the right lighting, you can still see a very faint shadow of where it was. But it's 100 times better than the damn sticker itself.

I, for one, like Alcantara. I think that Alcantara gives the roof liner and A pillars a more upscale feel. Now, I would prefer leather roof liner and A pillars for the ultimate in luxury, but compared to fabric, would take Alcantara any day.
I have the leather A pillars in my California, and came close to the leather headliner. However, couldn't justify 2K for leather in a foldable hardtop. The 458 would be a different story, as the standard headliner is grey fabric regardless of interior colour choice.
I have a 2012 CTT, and again love the Alcantara. Thinking of trading it for a 2012 GTS Panamera. Will get the GTS interior in Alcantara/Leather with silver stitching. If I had kept my order for the 991. Would have likely done white with the full Agate interior. Would not have missed out on the Alcantara.
Again, just my $.02.
