Default 2012 Launch Edition 991 Carrera S Coupes Make Their Arrival!

2012 Launch Edition 991 Carrera S Coupes Make Their Arrival!

We have just taken in our first two 991 Carrera S Coupe Launch Edition cars. These are cars spec'd by PAG and given to the dealers prior to the launch date of February 4th to show and get customers familiar with the new model. All Launch Edition 991's are Carrera S Coupes fitted with PDK and come in a variety of colors unlike Launch Edition cars of the past that have all been the same color with the same options. For our two launch cars, we were given a Platinum Silver with Black Leather Carrera S loaded up with a host of good options including PDCC and Sport Exhaust to name a few. Our other Launch Edition car is Carrera S Coupe in Carrera White with Yachting Blue, this is a really good looking car and is not the typical combination we would order for our stock inventory, which is cool about these launch cars. This C2S is not as loaded up as some and is a very good price for a 991 at only $111,275.

Last night I got the chance to take out a 991 for the first time with TS member SilverC2S and if you had to pick one word to describe this car it would be... YAHHHHOOOOO. This car is the best car I have ever driven hands down, it literally blew me away how smooth it was on the highway and then how it could instantly morph into what felt like a GT3 on the curves with the Sport Plus engaged. The G-Force monitor is also a really fun new edition that allows you to see how many G's you're pulling through turns breaking and acceleration. There have been lots of great videos on TS of the new Sport Exhaust on these new cars, but it is completely different experiencing it in real life and it's a phenomenal improvement over the PSE in the previous model. All in all I really didn't expect the car to be this big of an improvement, because until driving it, I thought how could it ever be that much better than the 997? I love the 997's, but this car has taken an even greater stride forward than the 997 when it replaced it's predecessor the 996.

Love the sunroof, I think it goes rather well with the retracting rear spoiler.

Great to hear. All the performance of the current GT3 with the luxury to drive it every day. My wife and I are already planning a near 6 week long U.S. tour once we get this car.

It takes some getting used to, I really like it after looking at it up close and like Texas911 said how it goes very well with the new spoiler. I think there could be a lot of guys won't order it, because it's almost $1,500 and some people don't use the sunroof enough to make it worthwhile, but only time will tell

Yeah the driving dynamic was probably the most impressive thing about the car. The way you could take it from the ultimate touring car to what felt like a GT3 with the press of a button was unblievable!

Geoffrey, I may stop by tomorrow, on my way back to the Chicago area. May I ask for you?

FYI, your delership delivered my Turbo to the first owner back in the fall of 1996.

That would be great!! We can take out one of the 991's and I will show you around our dealership. Give me a call on my cell an hour or so before you arrive and I can get one of the cars ready for us, 217-725-2022.

Excellent to hear that about your Turbo as well, when did you take possession of it?

Haha I think there is going to be a never ending discussion about the new sunroof. I personally like it, but some of my colleagues have voiced that they are not fond of it.

How does the Yachting Blue look in person? from the pics ( maybe overexposed), the blue spokes on the Steering wheel do not match the rest of the interior. the color overall, yuck, IMO. But for some buyers, I guess it beats getting a black interior.

Thanks. I'll call when I depart St. Louis in the early afternoon.

I took possession of my 993 Turbo in November of 2009 from a fellow Rennlister.

Can't stand that blue interior. My first car, a '76 Datsun had a blue vinyl interior that exact color. It looked something like this:
