Poll: 7 Speed Manual vs. 7 Speed "Manual" with PDK

Riddle me this, Robin: your hand is off the wheel, and you're "connected"; its slower, and your fast car must have it; its a chore, and its fun.
Gee whiz Batman, it does't make any sense!
That's right, Robin.

PDK all the way. All the convenience of an automatic in heavy traffic or other situations where you don't want to deal with it, but all the control and efficiency of a manual when you want it. Plus much faster shift times. Plus continuous thrust through never being out of gear. Plus protection against the dreaded money shift.

I picked up my new 991 a few weeks ago. I absolutely love the 7 speed manual! It's great!

I ordered my car in January, and it has a manual transmission. It's a sports car.
When I'm no longer able to operate a clutch, that's when I'll get another PDK. Had it in the Panamera S; didn't care for it.

My 7th new P car since 1983 and the first auto. I will never go back to to the MT. As they say......Been there done that!
PS. I also have very old, broken down knees that match the rest of my decrepit aging body.

I have a 997.2 with PDK and when not in traffic, sometimes wish I had a manual.
It's rather jerky at parking lot speeds and sometimes does not make the gear choices I would have.
I've driven several 991's with PDK and it is improved enough I would choose it over the 7 speed. Too many gears to shift with the manual and it was noticeably slower than PDK, at least with my shifting skills.

7 speed manual. Having a manual in a sports car is a must for me. I won't look at buying a car that doesn't have it.
No matter how "good" the automatic gets, the problem is it's automating a huge part of what makes driving fun. In other words, it's automating something I don't want automated.
I really don't care how fast it is vs. the manual. I'm not racing or trying to set lap times. I want to drive fast, but I mainly want to enjoy driving. If they replace the brake/gas pedals or steering wheel with an "automatic" that is faster or more efficient than a human I also won't buy that. I want to drive the car and be involved.

mine is a daily driver - I have the pdk and it is a blast to drive. My other 911s are all manuals. Whenever I get the 60's 911 - of course it will be manual.
but the new 991 with all the technology in it - I have to go with the pdk. My lease is up on this one in 14 months - I will probably order a C4S Targa with a pdk.
Again - personal preference
