On sum balance who's ready to order now?
Maybe someone more chatroom savvy than I can start one of those edgy 'bar graph' poles .I think most of the official reviews are now in and summarized here. I hear a lot of people saying 'I'll wait to drive it'. Lets face it though. How hard can you really test drive a dealer demo around the streets to explore its limits? Most people like me I suspect depend to a large degree on write up/reviews which arguably have been mostly positive. Most of the reviewers though probably don't currently own/drive themselves a late model 911. My current car is an 05 C2S. As for me, I think I will wait for now...great car no doubt, but the thought of 'upgrading' for things like fuel saving/auto start stop, power steering and electronic gadgetry seem less important in the P driving experience. I like the thought of the 90K in my pocket that it would cost me to change.

I will drive the car, and will drive it enough to verify/confirm all the changes. I will hold off in any case, as I never buy the first year production of any car.

Many worldwide have already ordered it and are awaiting delivery. There is no doubt in due course the 991 will be perceived as the best 911 ever till the next one comes around. Then that next one will be perceived as the best ever till...... It's all progress, and rarely is a newer car of any brand inferior to the older models.
Also one needs to be in the market for a new car to consider ordering one. If a new car purchase was not planned for another 2 years, very few would impulse order one now simply coz a new model has arrived. Such folk would wait & see.

I find it utterly amazing that people will spend $100K on a new car without even seeing it in the flesh, let alone driven it. I would rather buy a clunker to hold me over than pre-order a car.

This is all about wanting the latest. If you do, and can afford it, sure why not?

Yes. And there are a couple of other carcasses around that don't warrant a mention. And the obligatory warehouse of parts that could probably buy a stripper 991.
The "910" really isn't mine, I just did the bulk of the development work once it became a whole car. I keep it in the sig as a conversation piece, and to publicize it for my cousin. He's doing the preliminary work on construction of a 908/2 now that he has his commercial grade shop up and running.

On the fence... still HATE the console, no handbrake, and electrical steering, and all the other GT/Panamera stuff added to 991. As of today, my next P-car would be a GT3 with rear seats added! As for 991, I have to drive one, see it on track and maybe get over the GT interior to maybe jump from 997 to 991.

I was just ready to buy my first Porsche when the 991 emerged. I have driven 997s a little bit (love it), but I did not want to get on to the last leg of a platform right as a new one was emerging. I also LOVE many of the changes in the 991, aesthetic and performance.
I agree with aamersa that maybe it has more to do with timing than anything. If I was ready a year earlier, I would have bought a 997. I'm just going to trust the first reviews, trust Porsche, and enjoy the 'newest thing'. I'll be happy to work out the bugs for the rest of you.
Mine will be C2S dark metallic blue with all performance options. Out the door in SF for just under $140k (sticker around 127k). December build, Feb/March delivery, I am told.
