Default 991 Update From My Dealer

Hi Everyone, was at my dealer getting some work done on my 997.2 and have small update on 991. First, my dealer got 5 allocations which are all spoken for. Delivery expected in the November/December timeframe. Second, the 7 speed manual transmission is on a delay for parts shortage - whatever this means. He said P was having trouble getting parts. So, all the spoken for cars at my dealer are going to be auto PDK for now. Anyway, small update....

Real story: Dealer is getting 5 preconfigured launch cars before the end of the year for demo purposes but they will offer them for sale to their best customers!

Aren't the Manual and PDK transmission basically the same? Which part could hold the manual up that they can't get from another supplier, that is not a part of the PDK trans as well?

I don't know for certain, but I would doubt they are the same nor made by the same vendor.

They are the exact same tranny, just has manual clutch engagement for the manual shift version. Read up on this in Excellence and Panorama a few weeks ago.

My dealer called and said the soonest anyone can take delivery on the new 991 is Feb 4th 2012, and I can order a car today to be delivered then? Does anyone know if there's a way to get delivery sooner? I extended my current 997 lease...
